Premetto che non sono un modellista esperto, avendo iniziato la costruzione della SOS 40 anni fa ( ora ho 68 anni), dopo aver costruito il Bounty e la Santa Maria, e aver tralasciato per motivi di studio e poi di lavoro il modello nella fase di posa delle ordinate. Ora sono alla velatura e al completamento delle decorazioni.
Il mio problema ora è questo.
La poppa l'ho totalmente ricopiata dal dipinto di Lely su Peter Pett, sia nelle dimensioni che nelle decorazioni. Quindi ho anche inserito nella parte alta l'iscrizione “ soli deo gloriam”. Sta venendo piuttosto bene!
Consultando il libro Il ritratto di Peter Pett e il sovrano dei mari -National Maritime Museum Queen's House Greenwich ho letto testualmente:
A questo punto non riesco a capire se è applicata alla poppa oppure no, perché ipotizzata da Heywood.
Mi potete aiutare?

It has been proposed that the text "Qui mare, qui fluctus, ventos, navesque gubernat," and "Sospitet hanc arcem, Carole Magne, tuam." were found on the two plaques indicated by the red arrows below. No one really knows for sure, but these locations seem the most likely ones.

The writing is certainly too small to read at this scale, even if you use printed decals with the finest lettering.
le scritte avrei provato a farle con una stampante 3 D, ma non penso sia possibile in quanto le lettere verrebbero delle dimensioni di meno di metà millimetro. Stesso discorso purtroppo per la scritta"validis incumbite remis"che dovrebbe andare sulla fascia in mano alla Vittoria alata.
About all you can do is put the same number of dots as there are letters and call it good. 
Gazie!! pensavo di far cosi per la scritta sul nastro della Vittoria alata! Per l'altra è proprio impossibile....Tutto quello che puoi fare è mettere tanti punti quante sono le lettere e dire che è fatta.
This quote from Heywood's 1637 description of the ship is relevant. In talking about the stern he says:
"In the lower Counter of the Sterne, on either side of the Helme is this Inscription, Qui mare, qui fluctus, ventos, naves[que] gubernat, Sospitet hanc Arcam Carole magne tuam. Thus Englisht: He who Seas, Windes, and Navies doth protect, Great Charles, thy great Ship in her course direct."

Reading Heywood's work is a very painful experience; about 5 pages of incredibly over the top hyperbole, and historical narrative about as believable as Superman, for each short paragraph of practical information.
Worst of all, despite promising a true description, he describes almost none of the ship beyond a few small areas. A 17th century scammer!
