Just experimenting. The drywall sanding mesh is gridded and it worked exactly as intended.Rob,
How exactly did you determine which wire underlay would perform so perfectly as a jig to create the impression of riveted copper plates? The results are simply, pardon the pun.... riveting.
You did a very fine job with this plating, Rob. S very nice contrast with the black.
Thanks Peter. You did a very fine job with this plating, Rob. S very nice contrast with the black.

@MThomasI love the way your coppering system looks! Did you 'overlap' the edges of your copper tape, or does the lighting just make it sort of 'look' that way? It's hard to tell.

Indeed! She is a much sleeker shallower model for sure. I appreciate Clipperfan's investigation into the more accurate hull contours....but I ain't going back and since we know her narrowest point was only 24.5ft...it is only within the bowing of her hull from there to her max breadth of 40ft that can be contested. These images never show exactly what you want to show and they ALWAYS reveal what you don't want to show....flaws in detail and workmanship.
Well...I'm moving onto the next phase...addition of the chainplates and channels. This process takes time and, thus I will have to build mock-up masts to properly attain the correct angles for the chainplates.
So I will be slowing down for this. I also have to make the 60 or so chainplates and their connective hull plates prior to install. But first, I've identified some items that were poorly executed and overlooked that need immediate correction.
A bit of pre-planning is required to get these right.

Hey,I began fabricating the many embossed copper strips. Here are a few of the process.

Thanks...it saves loads of time and looks very convincing. And cost nearly nothing. Fits the bill.Hey,
very nice idea!! Looks great!
Cheers

Rob, just to clarify my statement about further investigating Chappelle plans is not meant to disparage your excellent craftsmanship which is continually impressive. There is no flaw in your work. As I've repeatedly said, my goal is to aid in reconstruction of the most accurate clipper Stag Hound possible with all sources available. As I investigated minor discrepancies which could result in a less than ideal hull configuration, it dawned on me that an old issue: perspective distortion was bedeviling us again. I realized that one of our deck plan sources was skewed out of alignment due to it being scanned from a thick book. At first, it looked like just the parallel lines were in a small "v" formation as they followed the inward curves of the book. After adjusting for that flaw I later realized that perpendicular lines were also not true and they too were skewed. It's still not perfect but it is far more accurate as now all parallel and perpendicular lines have been corrected as much as possible. Next step is to cut & paste all 4 sections to create a single whole. Then do an accurate tracing incorporating all dimensional specs and laying out all deck furniture elements to ensure meticulous accuracy throughout.Indeed!
