The Black Pearl

yes and no i will try to cover a historical time line but my intent is to focus on the design and development of the Black Pearl drawings and kits. The No is as stated by the forum i will not get entangled in any debate over franchise or product or who did what to who. Strictly keeping focused on the Black Pearl.
The best place to start is with the building of the prop used in the movies.

interesting the very original plans that were used to build the prop has been RELEASED and is available to anyone who wants them. I suppose you can ask the question released to who? the general public? and if the creator ( Richard "Rick" Heinrichs one of film's most original and innovative visual artists,) was concerned about the design being copied why release the plans in the first place?

Any chance you can help me get a clear copy of this?

you may want to check out the topic by Mallpapa on his building of the black Pearl and his drawings

or are you looking for images of the set used in the movies?

the Model of the black Pearl is a popular model and I thought it might be interesting to explore some back round information.

The first Black Pearl was actually not a ship at all it was a stage prop built on a steel barge from the deck up. Much of the images you see in the movie are CGI computer graphic images. So what you might see on the big screen actually did not even exist in reality.

The following Black Pearl was rebuilt as a sea worthy vessel and this is the real black Pearl. Yes it is a OSV and the name was the SUNSET. There are different types of Off Shore Vessels built for different jobs. The Sunset was a oil rig supply ship.

What was done is the Black Pearl like the first stage prop was built on another vessel. You can see the Black Pearl under constriction and looking close pointed to by the arrow, where the prop ended and the Sunset hull below.

The Black pearl was built around the Sunset black pearl ship. Kind of think of it as the old western movie sets where only the face of the town is built. so the Black Pearl was a prop and under it was a steel hulled oil rig supply ship

as new material comes to light I will continue to explore the plans, the design and the imagery of the Black Pearl
The Black Pearl's history is quite interesting! The original version was a stage prop built on a steel barge, with many of the visuals enhanced through CGI. The second iteration, known as the Sunset, was a real offshore supply vessel that was modified to resemble the Black Pearl. Essentially, it was constructed around the hull of the Sunset, similar to how old western movie sets were built. This creative approach to filmmaking showcases the ingenuity behind bringing such an iconic ship to life on the big screen. I'm looking forward to more insights on its design and construction!
