The Norske Love" by Noël Luc Build log

What an impressive Norske Love, Noel. I know that this is no easy hull to plank, especially with the tuck at the stern, but yours is exquisitely executed. I am also most impressed with the overall level of neatness you have achieved in your build. Looking at your workplace though, that seems to be no coincidence!

Hello, thanks to all fellow builders for the comments on my workshop and the build of my Norske Løve!
I am happy with my current workshop now, but at the beginning of my hobby as a model builder, I had to make do with much less. For the first things I made out of wood, I had a small saw, a small knife, a few small files, and wood glue.
In the meantime, after purchasing quite a lot of model building tools and machines, I have arrived at this workshop. Everything has its fixed place, and that is how I work best!
The Norske Løve is my first boat, and so far I have already learned a lot, certainly from the many expert boat builders on this forum!!!
When I start on the rigging, I will still have a lot to learn. I am a little scared of that! We shall see and make the best of it!
Best regards to you all!

Hello everyone!
Another step forward! I have finished the lower part of all three masts. It took a bit of puzzling to figure out how everything needed to be assembled. I think I managed it. I haven't glued the masts in place yet!!
Attached are a number of photos of the masts and of the first platform on the masts.
I also purchased the book "Rigging First-Rate-Ships of the Royal Navy, circa 1805". Modeler's Rigging Handbook! It is a beautiful book that will help me get started on the rigging. I am a bit scared of it, especially since it is my first boat!!
(On July 15th, I will have to undergo surgery on my right hand! You probably won't hear or see from me for a few weeks then!)
Best regards from Belgium

My setting the masts she got a completely new look, Noël. A nice progress.
I wish you all the best with the surgery and a quick recovery.
Regards, Peter

Sorry to hear about your hand, I sure hope the surgery goes well. Think I'll need some surgery too, my broken fingers don't heal well at all, still impossible to fully bend them and very painful. I tried to do some small work with the ship, but it doesn't work, it's far too painful.

Is it possible to get the boat out of the room? It looks so huge ♥ ♥ ♥

Hey OldPaBe,
The dimensions of the Norske Løve are:
Length = 101 cm
Width = 20 cm
Height = 90 cm.

The adjacent cellar where I build my boat also has stairs and a 4m by 0.9m beamed opening. It is an opening I can drive my car over for maintenance! This opening leads into my garage!!
So no problem getting my boat out of the cellar!!
I see you live in Belgium too, may I ask where? I live in Zandhoven.

Hello Luc, I am living in 5370 near Ciney -))

Two months ago I started building my first boat "The Norske Love". Probably too ambitious! In the basement of my house I set up a working environment to build the boat.

Then I installed all the ribs.

With the time I prefer Billing Boat vs Occre ...

Hello, my three masts are completely finished as far as the wood is concerned! The three or two sections haven't been glued together yet. When I start on the shrouds, I will first only glue the bottom sections and then secure the masts working my way up. I also made gutters to place cannonballs on the deck! See photos!

Hey OldPaBe, you live about 130 lm from me. Should you ever come near Zandhoven, feel free to drop by! Regarding the choice between Billing boats or OCcre boats, I can't say much about that. The Norske Løve is my first boat. I do know that the information for this boat is quite limited, especially when you start on the rigging.

The operation on my right hand is being performed tomorrow, so I will have to wait and see if I can still do anything to my boat then!

Best regards.
