Through all of trials I have gone through in my life ... none is as difficult as watching helplessly as ones life's mate life withers away to a relentless disease for which there is no drug or cure to apply. Only those that make life (what ever is left) more comfortable while waiting for the inevitable.

Two things have befallen my beloved over these last few weeks and months. ALS has risen and a stroke has taken what was left. Both combined are nearly completely debilitating.

Keep us in prayer as we trust God as his guidance on what and where to go ... as some of you know we were right in the middle of a move to Maine where all of her family is and where my beloved is from.

Wes I am sad to hear this and will pray for you and the Family. I have been through so much of this in my life, its never easy to deal with no matter how much your prepare. Loosing the ones we love is heart wrenching our only relief is knowing they aren't in pain anymore they are no longer suffering. I wish you the best in these troubling times. Ill keep you and the family in my prayers.

May God be with you Wes, you put your trust in him he will comfort you. I'll be praying for you both.
G'day Wes
I have to echo Mike's post. These nothing any one can say to relieve of you grief.
When my mother passed away 20 years ago, I was told by a close friend 'God has taken your mum because He knows she had enough'. That helped me, I hope that it also helps you

I agree with all. It has to be the most difficult thing while living on this earth. It seems like words alone are not enough to help us through the most of things that question God and wonder what is going on. I am very sorry that you are having to face this situation. I wish I had the words and actions to help. The only thing I can do is to pray that the Lord will have compassion and his Grace will sustain you we pray that your loved one will obtain the ultimate peace when she faces heaven and also pray that you will have the strength and the courage to face the days to come. Amen.

I found out burning the candle at both ends really does burn you out FAST!
Would be nice to have a candle to burn ...

I am a disabled Veteran ... However once is not related to the other.
I have a rare ish dis order called CMT It's like Muscular Dystrophy (Jerry's Kid) but different in that it effects the peripheral nerves and associated motor ability.

Then this past August - September, the better half is Plagued with ALS and in the mean time suffered a stroke and otherwise she was in good health up until then ... She worked for 35 year in nursing and now can barely take care of herself.

It is a struggle now with only about 10% of the income we had before ... We are losing the house we remodeled together ...
While a move was planned the intention was to rent the house out ... Now we are just flat out losing it.

Candle? what candle? I see no light here, there, anywhere ... even the end of the tunnel in dark.

Wes,
again, I am very sorry for all these trials. I am at a loss for words. Nothing is worse than being hit from all directions and when it seems no answers near. All I can say is that I am here if you need to talk or whatever. You are always welcome to email me at donnie(at)shipsofscale(dot)com

Ik am sorry for Your situation i read here. As a member of this forum in know that beside ship building advice there is a group of members where you can talk to in private or in a blog about problems in daily life. This makes it a special forum to me. Me and my wife have also a lot of healt issues Just like some other People here and sometimes we pm each other. It helps to ventilate your problems sometimes. So if you want to talk to one of us just send a pm for email adres or write the ones that already gave it. It helps more sometimes then talking to a shrink or docter because they always have their standard answers ready. I said to my docter that i am thinking sometimes how long it takes from the 7th floor to hit the pavement and his answer is find a nice hobby to do and he knows in have one. He has seen my ships and shipyard. Its Just a standard answer. So please talk to someone if you get stuck. We are there for you and your wife. Take care.

Hey Mike that is very nice of you to ask Wes out for a drink or dinner.
This is why this forum is so special with people like you onboard.
I hope Wes takes you up on your offer.
You are a good man Mike.

Denis.
