Hello everyone. I have been working on upscaling the Maty Modelarz model of RMS Titanic from 1:200 to 1:100. The last 8 hours were spent working on this. Currently, the structure is completed, with a hull made of masking tape. The ship is 2.7 metres long, or 9 feet, and currently weights 2 kg or 5 lbs.

At least 1 more layer of masking tape will be applied before the hull plating.

Dear someCO_OLguy,

that looks great and big! The wight is tremendous  for a "paper" model.
What thickness or grammatur of cardboard you do build from?

Best wishes from Berlin Card Yard,
Chris

I used cardboard boxes for the model. Corrugated card is not the best material, but with 7m^2 needed for the model it was probably the best choice (it is also cheap!). The end result is more sturdy than I actually imagined it would be. Also, I'm currently in the process of adding decks.

Making these benches is somehow satisfying.

I didn't say it yet, but this will be a diorama, with people and all. I am not aiming for historical accuracy of these people, so I am going to add some "easter eggs" related to the people that I am going to add.

Because I have access to a laser cutter, I will use it to make the railings, and other intricate parts. Still, most stuff is going to be made by hand.

Was sick yesterday, so didn't do anything. Did some things on the stern, and added the superstucture part of the hull.
