trouble with SoS

is it just me? over the last 2 weeks it is getting harder and harder to get to SoS I have no problems with any other site it seems to be just SoS.

after trying over and over i finally do on the site.

I have had the same problem on occasion over the past couple weeks. Patience pays off, but it is frustrating at times.

it might be SoS is approaching it max band width and it is creating a traffic jam. It is becoming very difficult to get on the forum on Saturday mornings when i post another class in the school. The forum is growing faster and faster.
 
I got this yesterday from member pugwash

Never encountered this before.

I'm not sure if that is the same or a related issue, but it's one more oddity so perhaps so.

I also belong to another site where I ended up not being able to post pictures for a while as posting photos directly from my computer according to another member slowed things down among other things. I was told to use a photo app like PhotoBucket, Imgur, Google...etc. and post from there. Life returned to normal and I've only ever posted that way on sites I associate with since. Can members post directly from their computers here? Not trying to muddy the waters, just something that may be a related cousin to the slow starts and time-outs.
 
i did come across an issue with posting images. I was posting in the school and the post that contained images did post but without the images. This happened only twice and did not happen again. My raw camera images are 300 resolution so i thought that might be the problem but i checked and they were only 100 res. so far it never happened again. But within the last few weeks i did notice if a post has an image it takes a real long time. I get this yellow bar running across the top
 
I have had the issue a time or two, but most often I am viewing from work, on break, and I guessed it was due to network issues, we often have at work.
 
Or the problem is as my Admiral used to say after a bad day fishing, "you weren't holding your mouth right!"

But of course there is the "a bad day fishing is better than a good day doing anything else"
 
I can look into this. At this moment the site loads immediately using my iPhone. However that is probably also due to having high speed fiber.
Yes, bandwidth plus other things can play into it. I do know that from where you are located and our cloud servers being in Los Angeles- many server hops are in between you and LA as many as 30 hops. Then if a node goes down another route has to be established. However, usually it shouldn’t take but a few seconds to replace a node.
 
My only issue with posting to SOS recently is having to rotate my photos with the 'Attachment Editor' after posting an update. This happens every time now.

Thanks for the funny, this made me smile...
I haven't had any issues in connecting to SoS but have noticed that when using Safari on my iPad that none of the top row icons work. Using another bowser like Chrome, Firefox, DuckDuckGo or Aloha everything works correctly. My bet is that this is a Safari issue and not SoS...

Using Safari too on an iPad. Just rechecked and fortunately no issues for me.
