Trumpter Mayflower in 1/60th.

Next project is trying to make or buy the bulkhead cleats to be used as rigging line, I've tried multiple sources, no one make 1/60th belaying pins, so I'll just have to use small pieces of round dowels, but I'll need to make some V-shaped cleats (I can't remember the name of these). In dealing with the mast height, I'm toying with the idea of cutting near the base to add some round stock to give them more height, because the masts are a solid piece of plastic, I can drill a space for a brass rod to help stiffen and strengthen the section, but I need some help figuring out how much length to add. IF one of the group gurus can chime in, I'd appr. it.

I'm finally able to put some hours back on the Mayflower, been a really busy last 3 weeks between a trip to Vegas and Christmas, etc. I'm up to getting ready to start the shrouds and chain plate rigging. Using 2 books on the building of the Susan Constant (SC), I'm trying to see what the correct way to rig the shroud stays to the chain plate. The instructions show you using chain (the instructions have been incorrect several times, so I put no faith in them at all). The Susan Constant building book shows bar style. the pics of the Mayflower 2, show chain. Were there general differences in rigging for the same period? Or might it have been a cost factor?

Slow going I need some advice, I'm ready to start mounting deadeyes but need a bit of guidance on what I can use to strop them so I can attach chain to the lower section into the hull, normally I can pinch wire around the round deadeyes but am unsure if they make something for the triangle shaped deadeyes. What have y'all used.

Try as I might, I could not get the proper deadeye rings to pinch correctly, so I used annealed copper wire and tucked them in the holes, it isn't right, but it will do. I may never buy another Trumpter kit again. I'm still trying to figure out how to add some length to the mast while preserving the grain look - WITHOUT replacing them completely. Slow Going

That circled "cleat" is a cavil.

Your method is what was recommended in Model Shipways kits in the solid hull days of yore. I am sure there are many on these forums with more satisfactory solutions. Maybe PM @ Jimsky with the question. He's an administrator with many good ideas and techniques.
