USCG Harriet Lane - Model Shipways 1:96 by DocTom

Hope your vacation is relaxing. Great workshop area. Even though my wife and I live in Massachusetts, next week we are taking an American Cruise Lines trip to three New England islands --- Block Island, Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. Hoping for good weather!

Tom! Love the workspace! I'm happy for you that you got some time to get a good start! Bon voyage!!!

Blessings. Peace. Gratitude.
Chuck

Dr. Tom, I love your new workshop! Fresh air when you want it with the upper window, new work bench and a great storage area! You just need to add a little smooth jazz in the back ground as you work away! Regards, Magic Mike
Agree 100% on the jazz! My go to music in the Shangri-la Shipyard :) Kenny Burrell, Charilie Byrd, Wes Montgomery - you get the idea.

Blessings. Chuck

Tom,

I'm doing the anchors and discovered the instructions regarding them have not been updated. Apparently, the stock for the anchors were laser-cut limewood pieces which are still included and to which the instructions discuss. My kit also had white metal anchor stock, listed on the parts list, which already have the square pre-drilled hole for the anchor and more detail. Those are the ones I used.

Henry
I used the kit supplied anchors as well. I think they are anemic given the size of the ship. If I had had the patience I would have sourced some that were a bit bigger. Something to consider.

Blessings.
Chuck

Say it ain't soROTF Who are you listening to for hard bop? Maybe I need to expand my horizons.

Blessings.
Chuck
Mainly Art Blakey and the various Jazz Messengers, Hank Mobley. Lots of 50s vintage stuff. Also a big fan of Brad Mehldau. I had the privilege of caring for Ahmad Jamal near the end of his life. Got to know him as a friend, and got to know his music. My musial tastes are eclectic. Also a big opera and classical fan.

Sorry, for me it's 1960 - 1980 rock and roll and pop music. From Abba to ZZ Top. Favorites are Fanny (first all-girl rock band that had a major recording contract), Beatles, Allman Brothers, Badfinger, Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Guess Who, Heart, Bread, Pat Benatar, Doobie Brothers, Dire Straits, Led Zepplin, Moody Blues, Monkees, Spanky & Our Gang, Linda Ronstradt and Turtles to name several.

Chuck, I have all of the Byrd and Montgomery LP's (bought back in the 60's and 70's) and a new record player in my shop! I also love the new "Chill" music that's becoming more popular! Magic Mike

Henry, please let me know how your trip goes. My wife and I want to do the same. I went to four Moody Blues concerts in Florida and Texas and have all of their LP's! "Days of Future Past" to you my friend! Magic Mike

Henry,
Enjoy your trip. I may have asked you before, but where in the Commonwealth do you live. We’ve never done American Cruise Lines but are intrigued by their Great Lakes itineraries. We are about to get on Viking for a cruise around Iceland, then Greenland and down the coast of Canada to Boston.
