Vasa 1628 - Billing Boats 1:75 Modified

So, now starting to get somewhere. I drew the keel, stem, stern and frames (bulkheads) up in SolidWorks and mated them together. After checking with 3D curves, I realize that a couple of frames need some minor adjustments, but otherwise no big issues.

As I now have material enough for making new frames, I think I will start cutting them and and make a dry fit to see if it's okay before I take a trip to the museum, guess some further questions will pop up as I go along

Vasa 1628 skala 1:75 update. Finally after many ifs and buts I'm back on track again with my modified Vasa project. First I had the wrong kind of plywood so I had to order new sheets. Second: Got the new sheets, but in wrong thickness, Third: had to go down to Poland again for more work. Fourth: Ordered new plywood again, and my "home built scrollsaw" broke down. Fifth: bought a new scroll saw, and the correct plywood arrived. I have now drawn up all bulkheads in my cad-program, printed them, glued them to the plywood and cut one of the frames out. Twelve more to go and I think this will keep me busy for while now :)

Dear Krister_L,
Happy New Year.
It's a real bummer that my homemade scroll saw broke.
So you're cutting with a new scroll saw now, huh?
That's a really beautiful frame.
I'm really looking forward to seeing the next steps.
Keep up the great work! :D

Vasa 1628 update: Between all snow shoveling sessions I managed to cut out all 13 modified frames/bulkheads for Vasa. I'm going to put in the two battery decks, but haven't made up my mind about the hold yet. I'm going to cut out the battery decks first and dry fit them, then we'll see :-)

Excellent job!

Billing Boats Vasa 1628 update. Hi folks, long time no see . First, it's been a horrible summer. My prosthetic leg failed on me at the end of May, I fell to the ground and broke two fingers in my right hand. Three weeks in plaster and a quite a few visits at a physio therapist, but without any success, my hand is still bad, can't bend three of the fingers, not even half way down. Anyhow, been fiddling around on my computer in the meantime trying to make an accurate 3D model of the keel and the frames. Actuall I did it one time before but at dry fitting I discovered that both lower and upper gundeck was in the wrong position, my mistake. Started all over again, beeing more careful this time but with the frames still made with outer contour copied from the original Billing frames. Now I find that the Billing Boats frames are not at all that good, no 7, 8 and 9 looks very strange. Last time I bought plywood and made totally new frames, but this time I thought I should use the Billing frames, but now I'm hesitant as these 3 frames actually are too small over the width, and frame no. 8 is also a couple of mm's too low at the top. I was trying to get help from the Vasa museum drawings that Fred Hocker posted on the Internet some years ago, but they differ from the Billing drawings when it comes to the widht of the ship. In Freds drawings, Vasa is as widest over frame 22 (no. 7 in Billings) but when I measure the frames from Billings, no. 8 is the widest (no. 26 in Freds drawings. Anyhow I used Freds drawings to positioning the gundecks, and now it seems like I got that right at least.
