VASA 1628 (De Agostini)

Hello everyone,

in the meantime I have painted all the figures. It took me about 3 months in total. I used the Colour details from De Agostini. The colours were from Elita-Modelle (https://www.elita-shop.de/modellbaufarbe...lours-ralfarben) these colours are also available in 15 ml bottles.
Here are some pictures.

Hello everyone,

after a short break and recovery from the painting, I continued with the hull. The upper row of gun ports was cut out, measured and closed again because they were arranged incorrectly. Some things did not match the plan and the kit.

Out of sheer frustration, I first rebuilt the stem out of pear.

Hello everyone,

The newly measured gun ports have been cut out and fitted with the jamb frames. The one opening that is missing in the gallery area will be indicated later after planking. So I still have the possibility to vary a bit after attaching the gallery.

One more question. I use a translation programme (Deepl). Is it understandable enough for you?

Hello everyone,

I coloured the stern and added the cut-outs for the gun ports and windows. I made the opening for the rudder according to de Agostini's documentation and quickly closed it again. In Björn Langström's book (The Royal Warship VASA) this opening does not exist (Fig. 5). Likewise in the cross-section in the Vasa Museum (see picture 4)

The rudder was fitted and the first Ornamental part was attached.

Hello Uwe,
Thank you very much for your comments on the construction of the ship model so far.I am very happy about this.

Hello everyone,

After the first deck work, the Gallion was now built. Here too, nothing was taken from the kit and everything was built from scratch out of pear. Here are the first pictures.

Usually I am not a big fan of painted ship models - often less is more
But here with the Vasa - she has to be painted - and your model and paint job is looking very good
Either the wood work as well as th epainting work - Very good

Hello Uwe,

I'm not a fan of painting either, but as you've already indicated, the VASA only works in colour. Wait until the decorations are applied. Then it will be really colourful
