Vikingship 1:50 - Revell by Ronald

Thank you guys
Ronald,

I just wrapped up my build on the same kit, if you want to add benches/seats, there is a member who does the 3D printing of these on the BB, go through my build, look for a member called "Jhoanor"

Ron, What color and paint are you using to dry brush? I mainly use enamels and am slowly switching over to water based, I'm going to try to test the Revell Aqua series in the brown you used but was wondering what you used for your dry brushing.

Jake, I used as the base colour the Aqua 382 but instead the 82 would work also. The first is semigloss, the second is matt. Then I esed the wash from Valleyo as in the photo (73.203). When that dried I used Vallejo Sky Grey. You could use white as I somtimes do but the grey makes it a little less obvious. I drybrush with the Army Painter drybrushes and they work great for this purpose.

About the aqua; I thin them with methylated spirit. here it is deliverd in a somewhat blu-ish colour but that will not disturb your colour. It looks like this:

I hope this will help you :)

At this point I completed the rigging. Not very complicated with this model. Started as the instructions said with the standing rigging. I didn't use the Revell thread but one I had in the stash, I think from Amati:

The left is Revell, I used that one to tie up some stuff.

The most "complicated" is this one, shown just after it was done:

Then I did the rest of it and added some rope around the ends under the heads. So far without the shields and ores:

Now I need to do the shields and ores. I also need to make some tied ropes to hang over the attach points of the rigging. So stay tuned! ;)

Hi Ronald, nice to see you at SoS.
For the next model try oil colors on acrylic or enamel paint. These need some time to become dry, but the result will look much better.
I like the old Revell model and your model is looking really nice.

Hi all,

I joined March 15 as new member. To start light I will build the Revell 1:50 Vikingship. Its a nice clean kit with not that many parts. Reason that I build it is to test some techniques in painting plastic as wood.
No clean workbenches with me ;) I'm a real ADHD guy (Is this term used in English?): Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. So a little chaos is always part of the deal with me.

Hull; 2 halves with a good fit. Little flash, little work:

After 5 minutes preperation they where glued together:

While the glue dries I test-fitted the deck:

It fits very well so I don't expect problems there. Meanwhile the both "heads" prepared:

Stay tuned, more to come!
Good Job!

What year is that kit from?
