Steef66, can you PM the link to the building log of the ship you posted images. Looks amazing and so detailed in colors.

About the rope discussion, both methods are fantastic and from now on I will use one or the other depending on the ship. Example, the Dutch log posted by Heinrich, on those images the method of twisted the ropes looks great, it looks like a chain. In your ship, as you did, not twisted, it looks better. I do not have idea what would be more historically precise. But I never care on all my models about historical details.

The teal color of the upper stern is just beautiful! That and the surrounding yellow complement the rest of it really well. Cant wait to see the natural wood portion oiled up. I'm thinking about the chain plates made with rope since I'll be fabricating that system. To me would be easier than using wire but I like the look of metal better so up in the air I go trying to decide.
 
@Daniel20 Thank you Daniel. I also think that the walnut gives a very authentic look - that is also why I have commented in the past on the beautiful hull color of your Vasa. Have a look at the rope method that @Steef66 used - that would be the correct one to follow. You can also paint the rope once the glue has dried - if that is done in matte black, you will be hard pressed to tell the difference between that and metal.

Thank you Richie. Kolderstok has superb quality wood in their kits. On the Zeven Provincien and Duyfken, for instance, even oak is an option. From what I have heard it is not an easy wood to work with but, oh boy, it looks NICE!

Gunport lids made (still need to be checked for absolute squareness prior to installation), hinges attached, ropes attached - but can't fit them.

Construction of side gallery finished. (The missing door hinge will be done when I do the port side gallery). A plethora of ornamentation still needs to go on.

Hi Heinrich. The verdict is done: moving to another city?
Nice ‘doorzon’ house (the 2nd.)
But some time to build little things on the Haarlem.

Hi Peter. It is not 100% sure yet - but it is likely enough that I have to start looking at places. There is another alternative, but from a working perspective, it is less ideal than Hefei.

I agree with you - the second apartment does look like the nicer of the two, but because Hefei is the capital city of Anhui province, and because the apartment is right in the middle of the city center, it is also double the price of what I am paying now.

On the Haarlem, I can only do odds and ends - I try to get a bit of work done on her, but my concentration is not what it should be.
