WARNING: ***Buying from DeAgostini***

This is a web email "contact form" that I sent to DeAgostini - I will probably will not get a response as I have done this before and never heard from them:

Dear DeAgostini,

with much patience, I have been waiting for 5 months for a stage #28 for the Lotus model. This particular stage is important as the remaining of the model stages that have been sent to me are sitting in boxes as I can not proceed until Stage #28 has been completed.

I am the founder and an Administrator of a well known ship modeling forum of which we have several modelers building various DeAgostini models. They SHARE my disappointment with your company and this is certainly a bad reflection of DeAgostini models and this will also be a heavy discouragement from myself and other modelers on my website to purchase your models.

Therefore, with another attempt at patience, I am asking if your company can investigate the real reason why it is taking 5 months just to receive the products.

I am progressively close to never purchasing a part build again as this has installed a bad taste to me.

I have attended the "chat" on your site, with very little cooperation from your staff as to the purpose of this terrible delays with only short answers with no solutions.

My only resolution is considering stopping payment on the rest of the stages until Stage #28 has been successfully shipped.

Kindly / sincere regards
Donald B. Driskell

Yea, they claim they are elevating this to upper management. So, my question to them is this ? How can you be out of stock for 5 months on one part ?

I DO NOT believe them - sorry - I just don't believe it.

So, here is the problem.
Stage 29 is the assembly of the left manifold / headblock / and pipes. This got built as I had this stage
Stage 28 (missing) is the assembly of the right manifold / headblock / and pipes. SAME THING FOLKS - One is left block and one is the right block - just a mirror image - there are NO mysterious parts, and yet they say that the stage 28 is out of stock - folks don't lie - DeAG - you all have a big problem.

Good to hear they responded.

Now to see how much longer you have to wait.

When I needed additional wood from OcCre, I emailed them per instructions, and never heard back, but three weeks later the package with wood showed up.

Can't really complain, but a heads up of "Your request has been worked" or something like that would have been nice.
I had a similar experience with OcCre. I crushed one of the whaling boats for my Essex model. I contacted OcCre through the appropriate form but never heard back. I eventually sent them an email and indeed, the replacement had been shipped. I was informed that since it's a replacement part, the order and shipping notifications do not appear in my account. Not that big a deal, but a 'Your replacement order has shipped' would have been nice.

To OcCre's credit, they actually sent me the entire sheet which included all four whaling boats. In no way would any of this affect me purchasing from OcCre again. In fact, I just forked over the money to buy the Titanic directly from their website.

It sounds to me by the problems we customer have experienced are resulting from a lack of staff, overworking those who are left, unreliable suppliers, and they are overwhelmed with the kit business. The economy seems to be in a slump everywhere.

Hi Donald,

Thank you for contacting DeAgostini Collectibles

Thank you for reaching out, and please accept our sincerest apologies for the prolonged delay you’ve experienced.

We fully understand how frustrating it must be to wait over five months for a critical component, especially when it halts your ability to progress with the build.

After investigating your account, we can confirm that Stage 28 is scheduled to be included in your next package; order ob90465409-00008. However, we must inform you that this package is currently out of stock, which is the reason for the continued delay. We are actively working with our supply team to resolve this issue and expedite the replenishment of this item.

Please be assured that your feedback has been escalated and taken seriously.

While we work to resolve the stock issue, we kindly ask for your continued patience a little longer. We are committed to ensuring your model is completed and that your experience with DeAgostini reflects the standard of quality and service we strive to provide.

If you have any other questions, please let us know.

Kind regards,

DeAgostini Collectibles

I built the R2D2 for my grandson and never had an issue. Now I've been "building" the GT40 kit for years now. During covid Deagastino basically vanished. I couldn't access my account, their forum, and they never answered emails. They even "lost" my account and I'm glad I kept every email from them to prove I had an active subscription. Now I'm waiting for the LAST parts delivery and they won't send it because item 171 is "out of stock". This response caught my eye because it's the same canned response I received from Hygerta this week. This was after I sent a pretty direct email with this content ...
Hello,

So here we are months later and no response to my question. All I want to know is when am I going to get my final subscription delivery. My understanding is that what I’m due is the last set of parts and the display case as promised with my subscription. I’ve been incredibly patient since 2021 when I started on this painful journey. All I want to do is finish the GT40, and I get no understanding or appreciation of my situation, from De Agostini, as a loyal customer. Look me up. I bought an R2D2 subscription and all was fine. That’s what made my decision to buy the GT40. I would love to buy the Ferrari 312P but my trust is gone.

At this point,I expect a civil and truthful answer besides the usual “we are looking into it” or “supply chain issues” insulting response. If you know what the problem is, then give me the respect of an adult assessment of the situation. I’m so disappointed. if I get some generic “be patient” response, I will spend considerable effort on the web educating potential customers of your subscription delivery flaws and my truthful personal journey of the risk of doing business with you. I’ve been a computer professional for 48 years and will automate my factual frustration over thousands of points of contact on the web.

Again, here we are…choose wisely. The way you respond to a patient and loyal customer determines my next steps.

I’ve included a recent subscription delivery receipt so you can determine who I am.

I contacted them again today using that "WhatsApp" on my phone. Got same usual answer. Then in reply, I told them I was going to my bank to suspend or freeze my recurring payment until I get a notice that my shipment #8 would be ready. They then replied claiming they are going to give me a more detailed answer.

I rarely ever say "never", but I think I will never buy any subscription from them again. Also, going to my payment methods, there is NO WAY to remove my current payment method. So, I have to go to bank to stop payments on this. What a racket they are.

Charities (now known as non profits) used to be grateful when you sent them a check. Now they all want a Sustaining Membership; often “only” $19.95/ month. I have suspected that a side benefit to them is the difficulty to cancel these once established.

So sorry Donnie..exactly why I do not buy foreign kits in chapters... with exception of Chuck's Syren products..ordered chapters 7&8 two days ago..on its way already... Another example..CAF is still developing parts 5& 6 or 4&5 whatever for some kits, since last year.. what about people who purchased 1-4? How long will they wait? There is a DE O BOUNTY for sale here..hope he has all the chapters and booklets.
