Where is my post?

ModelExpo is located in Florida. I think you should have the package delivered within a week. But...if you need it faster, you might pay extra shipping to get delivered overnight.
ModelExpo doesn't provide free two-day shipment like Amazon.

Welcome to the SOS group. It's a great feeling to be involved in this hobby, but once you get started on your building projects don't be in a big hurry to see the end results. Take your time and study the building process. You will be much happier and more proud of your end result.

in many cases, Amazon doesn't provide free 2 day shipping either. :)

Basically how long to get it. The order form does not show how they ship the item, what method or delivery service. Not worried on how much.
how long to get it depends on how much you want to pay for shipping. They have multiple shipping options. Normal shipping I believe is 3 to 8 days. I believe they go all the way up to next day air, but that gets expensive. :) Call them. 877-314-1106

Jeff-
Took the plunge, ordered my first kit. The Grand Banks Dory. Now I have to set up a desk to work at. I might add mods to a computer desk I have so I have somewhere to build it without the need to keep moving it around. The book Ship Modeling Simplified seems intimidating at first blush. I took a look at the tool list and there is a lot there. I DO want more tools than comes with the Dory kit. Just trying to figure that out.
Getting involved in the process is a little daunting foe me right now, just trying to get motivated. Got a lot on my plate. This is an attempt to stay occupied. It's a challenge but something I need to try.

very glad to hear it. There are plenty of us here to answer any questions you might have.
For tools, other than what comes with the kit, you will want more sandpaper and a sanding block. You will want a steel ruler you will want a razor saw with the miter box.
Don't get any power tools yet. :)
Hope that helps

here is some tool you may consider as the beginner

Are any of these tool kits worth it? I am guessing maybe not. Don’t know.

It is hard to understand what exactly each set contained (images too small), but the first set mostly targeted tools for plastic models, the second set can qualify for other type of models including wood. I can see a rotary tool, drill bits and sanding attachments. Also, I can see needle files and measuring tools (including vernier caliper). Other tools are difficult to identify.

It is also difficult judge the quality of all the tools, I doubted it is a very good quality, but all those tools will make a good value, perhaps some of the tools you may never use. The rotary tool alone, can cost about $20~30.00

What is your first project, if you don't mind me asking.

@Araczek I would say they both would offer some value. But, some of them will likely have tools you will never use. The first one even has a cutting mat that is green ! ROTF (we had a many page discussion (joke) on the colors of cutting mats and it was decided that the green ones were the best. :) )
If you get a rotary tool, I would caution you to be careful you don't take off too much material. Its real easy to do. And once that happens, you will be making a new piece most likely.

@Jimsky he stated a little earlier he has ordered the Grand Banks Dory for Model Expo.

Thank you, Jeff.

@Araczek for the Gran Banks Dory, I don't think you would need the entire set of those tools, you would need a hobby knife with #11 blades (some spare for replacement), few sanding blocks of various shapes, rubber bands, PVA glue, perseverance and patience.

Got a forum question, why does the post I get in my email show more conversations than when I visit the forum directly? I always have to hit my email to
see the rest of the [posts. Same login name, same forum.

technically...you don't have to, but...

As you can imagine, there are many more threads besides yours. As the rule, the most active thread will be always on top until other thread become more active. Then, the previously active thread will move down. Also, when someone replies or just posts to a given thread, it will move the thread to the top, because it is an updated thread. This way the popular (most posting\replying) thread is always on top.

You don't have to look for an email, you can just follow your thread path. Whatever is convenient to you will work!

I just realized my problem with seeing posts was there was a page 2, didn’t see that. Sorry.
Just received my Grand Banks Dory kit! I’m eager to get going but I want to get my hobby bench ready, which isn’t built yet. I am modifying a computer desk to be my hobby desk and will work on that tomorrow. In the meantime I’ve bought a series of tools, being cognizant of what is supplied in the kit and also taking suggestions from folks on the forums. I have a mess of Amazon packages to open! It’s Christmas! I’m psyched to get moving on all this. Thanks to the knowledgeable people here.
