Looking good Ted. Those four eyelets, left and right and aft of the cleats, shouldn't they be turned 90 degrees? I don't think it will effect the rigging too much, but...

You are correct, I'll change them.

My doggone dog, appropriately named Rascal, strikes again.
I dropped one of the jaws for spar B138-6 and before I noticed I had knocked it onto the floor Rascal chewed it up.
Made a duplicate by glueing a piece of scrap.

What a Friday. I broke the spar while sanding it with a drill.
The dowel wasn't vertical grain making it weak.

That came out better than I thought it would. The repair is essentially invisible.
Final spar completed.
On to finishing and then rigging.

Hi Ted. Please take a further look at sheet 8-6. There is gaff B138-10 also visible. There is a single sheave blok connected to the eye-pin. The rope to pull the gaff started around that blok.

See the line in the middle.

In the lower mast head is a double sheave blok with the rope number ‘17’. You see there also the capital ‘V’:

That represents to the top left also drawing ‘V’.

With again the rope number ‘17’ by the double sheave block:

The rope goes from the back to the front through the 1st sheave, back down through the gaff single sheave from the front to the back and up again to the 2nd sheave, again from the back to the front.

The end of the rope ‘17’ goes along the mast down and is connected to point ‘17’. You can find that on plan 8-6 on the right ‘top view’ drawing. It’s on the ‘horse-shoe’ table by the mast feet.


Hopefully this will help you understanding the YQ drawings It took me also ‘some time’ how to read them. Although I haven't used them myself.
You have to compare the information from different drawing. Making sketches, like you did above, of the routing of each lines is a good idea.

Yep! Some of the builder have connected the block to the eye-pin with a thin iron of copper wire, with a little eye above the block. But others also with this rope-wiring. A matter of taste, what you have available and/or skills.

Looking ahead I'm trying to figure out how to size the shrouds without any specialized equipment along the the order of rigging.
I have found several threads here on the site and will start reading
I didn't approach this project with hubris but was confident I could build this model. I was wrong.
I want to thank everyone who has assisted me in getting to this milestone. I would Iist the major contributors but am afraid to miss someone and all have been valuable.
My model is a little raggedly but I'm pleased and a little proud.
