Help please. Rigging the Endeavour from Occre

Hallo - just a short tip reffering the recommended books by neptune - you can find the detailed book reviews of both books in our forum

Hi James,

Thanks for your book recommendations.
I read your post about 5 mins after I ordered the book from Lenarth Petersson. What a coincidence!
I chose the ebook method and converted it from the ascm file type to PDF using Adobe digital reader. Cheaper than buying it as hardcover and easy to read on the PC/Notebook.
Having gone through the file I too can thoroughly recommend this book. Rigging the ship may not be quite so daunting after all. I'll see.

Cheers, Trevor (Warren)

PS. I just read the book review of The Masting and Rigging of English Ships of War, 1625-1860
By James Lees. on this site and after perusing the pages offered in the review, it is a book, which is also in my estimation as one of the foremost pieces of literature on masts and rigging.
Have I gone over the top in this estimation?

Amazon are pricing this book as new at 676 €! Surely a misprint.

G'day Trevor, some are at ridiculous prices, but you can still get one's around the $50 mark, it really is a great book,
Best regards John,

I see rigging is a major topic on this site, which is not surprising, given how difficult this part of the ship's build can be and that is certainly the case with me at the moment.
I have more or less finished the bowsprit and I am stuttering with tying the blocks to the masts and yards.
In the drawing below there are hearts and deadeyes to be fixed to the bowsprit. Letters F (3 off) and J (2 off) with 0,5 mm thread.
The books I have on rigging are otherwise excellent, but couldn't help me further on the following issue: What is the correct method to fix these blocks to the masts, that is what is the seasoned modellers way of doing it and would these ropes be served?
I fixed the blocks to the end of the boom by tying the thread around the boom and fixing with by a knot and applying CA glue.

Any help very much appreciated.
Trevor
