PHANTOM NY PILOT BOAT 1:96 SCALE BY MODEL SHIPWAYS

Hello Steemftr your build looks great. I'mstill struggling with my first build, I hope it turns out half as good as yours.

This is my first build. I started it April of 2020 when the Pandemic started. I finished it 4 months later.View attachment 195889
Interesting that my first build was also a pilot boat for a kit bought back around 1969, two thirds done and then into a closet dry dock until this last summer, Constructo, 'Scale Pilot Boat' 18 inch wood hull, no scale given.Pilot Boat to Becky.jpgCanoe to Becky.jpg I finished it out over the summer with a lot of added accessories that I felt would be present in a working boat including two ships boats, Stbd in a deck cradle and Port aloft as this almost done shot shows. Lots of faux hanks of lines and added running rigging not in the kit. I really like schooner rigged boats. After doing two strip canoes, first was a 19 inch which was my entry lessons in planking and definitely improved with the second one with that group I am focusing on a 1/64 scale Bluenose, MS2130, and have an order standing for another which is POF from China with that build group pricing.

Have a good time as you proceed beyond you pilot well done pilot boat. Rich (PT-2)

Beautiful work!

Started building the HMS Pegasus last August. My first plank on bulwark ship.
Very nice work and intimidating to the adversaries with those guns out and ready to fire broadside or rolling broadside. Rapidity of fire was more important than accuracy but yours look well placed. Rich (PT-2)

I think that I spent more time reading how to plank the hull than the time I spent doing it.
Been there doing that. For my Bluenose it is very much the same as doing the "Stripper" canoes. . . just a longer hull and lesson learned to taper the plank edges for better mating around curves convex and concave when those edges are aligned with the keel. Rich (PT-2)

Very nice - will be adding this to the showcase. Do you have anymore pictures of the Pilot?

I personally don't think it is up to our SoS standards but will make some arrangements for some photos to send for your consideration. Thank you for this opportunity to show what an old newbie did with an almost as old Constructo kit after it was in closet drydock since about 1970. I'll keep our Lab out of the way and have a black cloth backdrop. Arranging better lighting will be a creative venture as well as my IPhone camera. I think that I will ask a lodge brother who is a photographer with lots of cameras, lenses, and better lighting to help me out for SoS if acceptable. Rich (PT-2)
