Update:

Thanks for the thumbs up and likes !!

I will Let the mast rest for a while, and think about it further.

In the meantime I started with the platforms for the searchlights, because I'm going for the conversion, where the platforms placed in the midship.

Made the platforms, and the bases for the searchlights.

The searchlights I had already bought a while ago, this because they are so detailed and almost impossible to make like this (at least not with the tools I have)

The Undercarriages I made from my own idea, and I assumed they had to be more or less the same size as the nearby hatch, to store them below deck.

Below some pictures, there is still some work to be done, but it gives a bit of an idea.

Hi Boris,

Another wonderful detail added to an already wonderful build, fantastic work.

Cheers,
Stephen.

Just been looking at the Hamburg Maritime museum example online. It's the same scale.
Do you have any comments about the different features and how they are presented?
To be honest, your build wins hands down.

Thanks for the reactions and thumbs up

As far as I know, I do not know the Hamburg model. (Could not find here on the website)

During the short life of the Scharnhorst the necessary changes were made. The Scharnhorst and Gneisenau were prototype ships and unique in there class, but also on which many changes were made and the learned was applied to other and later models.

I myself am trying to represent the Scharnhorst before her major conversion, where platforms were removed and floodlights were placed on platforms on the battle masts and on towers behind the bridge on both sides, and also the masts were raised.

First picture (SMS Gneisenau) after the conversion, (they had both platforms removed and searchlights replaced) second picture before (that’s how I am trying to represent her.

Also made the rescue ring installation which is placed on the starboard side under the floodlight platform. And made two floodlight aiming devices, which are used to aim the floodlights that will be placed on the battle masts later on.
