HMS Bounty 1:60 scale scratch build

looking impressive - i'm taking a keen interest and lots of notes for when I have a go at the part completed 'del prado' one I bought.

THank you guys for your attention and nice words. I am glad you like and follow my work. I shall try to put as many as possible picures and explanations of the work on this site, hopefully someone would find it helpful, or would get new ideas.

Copper sheeting is complete (except the rudder) Hull is painted to the final colors, after copper sheeting the rudder, green copper patina will be applied (as copper get's green patina in salt water)
Last two pictures show method of producing copper plates- strips cut off on my modified guillotine marked with pin-wheel stamped at predefined length to make copper plates...IMG_20210111_012503.jpgIMG_20210111_012521.jpgIMG_20210111_012532.jpgIMG_20210111_012546.jpgIMG_20210111_012603.jpgIMG_20210111_012612.jpgIMG_20210111_012625.jpgIMG_20210111_012643.jpgIMG_20210111_012656.jpgIMG_20210109_122322.jpgIMG_20210109_122437.jpg

After some testing and experimenting, I finally got natural looking copper corrosion/ patina in salt water.
First, copper was brushed by wire brush on Dremel, than cleaned from grease and impurity, than used white vinegar to get non-shining reddish oxide, than used copper/brass black to get darker and partially irregular brownish patina, and than carefully applied Copper green patina to get spontaneous, irregular layers of green copper oxide.
Compared results to naturally corroded copper sheets and I am pretty much satisfied with similarities and result...IMG_20210115_001304.jpgIMG_20210115_001323.jpgIMG_20210115_001332.jpgIMG_20210115_001342.jpgIMG_20210115_001356.jpgIMG_20210115_001404.jpg

Thank you very much Uwek. These pictures definitively assured me that I was not much wrong deciding how to weather copper sheeting. I checked a lot of pictures and researched a lot before applying chemicals and patina, but these are amazing pictures from this site. I breathe much easier now :D
