PRINTZ FRIDERICH (1761 - 1780) - danish 70-gun Ship of the Line - 1:48 by Karl I. Malcha

Use of a model: with this dramatic foto-shop-scenery the danish journal "Historie" illustrated the stranding of the "Printz Friderich" when her wreck was found in 2018.
(She ran aground in these minutes 240 years ago near the danish island Laesoe / Kattegat, 28th of September 11.00 p.m. Central European Time. 7 lives lost, round about 570 saved within the next days, the crew generated 8 additional babies the Laesoe priest remarked)

Yes, Jimmy, that is/ was my dream, but too late now. Am now 75 and a well I know, this work has taken over 10 years. This apart, of all the special Tools as Lathe, Freaezer , Mashin saws etc. Thinks that I never had. Came to a Proxcone/ Dremel late 90, so what I have built was all pure crafting done. When I see some of the working/ tool rooms, I am not going jealous, only a bit sad, that when I was building hard 70-80TH.
all these things were not available. this apart From CAD and other computer programs etc. Newcomers have now so much info- maybe too much- that WE DID NOT HAVE T THAT TIME. The 1Th image is from the Book Holsten-DK and my first big build 1978- 1982- the Norske Love- a sistership to Prinz Federiech scale 1:72. all fittings, even deadeyes, bloks etc were a plastic. later on, I change some of them. there are mistakes with the sails but at that time no information. SORRY FOR THIS LONG STORY, but I see, that I am comming to the end.

MY BOOK FROM Holsten WENT TO Sicily, Italy AND A COPY TO OUR FRIEND IN NORWAY-AGAIN ALL FREE.
 
It is a wonderful work of art! I would spend hours admiring it if I could see it live!
Is there a monograph for sale somewhere?

no, there is no monograph of this ship.
The sources are from the rigsarkivet Kopenhagen and the krigsmuseet Kopenhagen (for example models of deckconstruktion, firehearth, powderroom, figurehead aso.).

The enquieries took nearly two years.

Yes from Uwek I got the name and address of Karl Invar Mache- living on the Westcoast of Nothern Germany- Sleswig- Holsten -not far from the Danish border. YES, this is really a CRAFTSMAN ship Yes I have met him some years ago. I am a little worry not seeing any up-date from this BIG Lover od Wood
 
Hey El Capi, Thanks to you too for bringing this build to my attention!
He is a very simple man, lowing to work with Wood. You will not see many sophisticated Tools. A big knowledge of architecture and knowledge and love to work with WOOD. I got the contact via Uwe too, as I have to build 3xtimes Norske love- one of the sistership -3 in total.19- went to a famous fish restaurant in Madrid.1Th NOT laser cut, so here too "Handwork" next one was just when laser-cut came the marker and the last one about 2000-went to a 2-star restaurant in Madrid. The Pic is from the 1Th one, with all fitting in plastic. these were later changes to wooden blocks, deadeyes etc when I came to Spain-Madrid. quit a few mistakes of this my 1Th big warship. It lasted 40 years, as the wood stark getting having braking point on the planks.

Absolutely top work. I am at loss for words.
Yes Pianoforte, IT IS ABSOLUTLY TOPWORK. It can be seen, Karls love to the Wood. My Father and Litle broder were Carpenters, and we had a big tools Room at home. See them work to -how they conected one piece of wood with another without using nails or srews. I am talking about the 1950 about and foreward, without having a lathe or many others tools which are aviable today, but they got around. I am pretty sure, that Karl does NOT have many sofisticated tools. It is Not a 5***** Michelin but atleast a 12*****- Hurra
