Vic, hello. As far as I know, such rings with rings were only on hatches with transverse boards. On the bars, I personally have not met.

How? No more decks are foreseen. Boats? It will still be visible. I propose to carefully get them (eyebrows with rings), and seal the holes with pieces of wood. And then grind the entire grate. Then it will not be so striking. An extreme option is to change the grilles.

I guess made a new one, or replace some parts would be too extreme (I agree with Sasha) but...you can remove the rings and insert dowels into the remaining holes with the same type of wood you have used for gratings or use putty with a similar color. How about that?

Installing gun port frames. The Admiral and I painted them red. I have to trim just a tad to get them to fit. But now they’re snugly in place.

Planking the next level deck. The instructions have it buried somewhere towards the back of the book that I should plank the deck after planking the sides and windows. I’m glad I accidentally saw that. Otherwise, the windows would have been too high. But I’ll plank the inside of the hull afterwards because it will help fill in any .5 mm gaps. 
I had to build spacers from scraps to make sure the planks all started evenly across the deck. I’m not crazy about that streak on the grate. I really don’t want to paint it though.

In fact I lost 1 of the doors (probably dropped inside the hull) and I decided to replace the center door with stairs going to the poop deck

What you did makes sense, but having doors this small does not make sense to me. When you compare the sizes of the two doors, one must be for Goliath and the other for baby Jesus.
