NORSKE LOVE - Billing Boats 1:75 scale

Also I have been thinking about getting that Proxxon tool also as it has the accuracy needed to do precision milling as well, need to add the drill press and X-Y table they offer but then you have a nice mill setup for milling notches in beams, carlings, etc. as well as being able to use it as a rotary tool. Very versatile…. Did you find a good deal on it somewhere?

Wow Dean, I have been checking in every now and then as you have spent the last 10 pages or so working out the design for the panels that are mostly going to be hidden from view after all the decks go on - kinda thought your OCD got the best of you :) but I really like that last rendition of the black background and pear inset! That is sweet, sweet, sweet! So all that investment turns out a super awesome design that is unique and beautiful and really sets your build apart from the pack! Great work as always, and I really appreciate the artistry you share with us…. As always for me - I just might have to steal your design on one of my builds ;) thanks for doing all the creative legwork!! Awesome skills man!
Lol…thank you Lou! I do tend to agonize over details. But I can’t move forward until I feel I have something I truly like. The walls kept haunting me, like they weren’t finished! And the further I get in the build, the harder it will be to change them. It’s already a challenge to paint and add the panels with the walls in place. ;)
So it’s now or never!
And feel free to copy anything I do, I would be honored! ;)

I ordered from Micro-Mark. You earn points towards money off and get discount codes. I got 15 percent off. I buy a lot from them. ;)

Dean your latest rendition with the black background is very nice. However there is something about the bottom picture of your post 349 (the right side panel with the carving) that I really liked as well, maybe the simplicity of it.

Coat of arms number two completed. Not sure if it’s any better…lol. Some areas are better and some not. Oh well, perfection in a carving smaller than your finger tip is not going happen! ;)

Both are glued on the appropriate panels. Just painted the black in the inset areas. Next I will be gluing them on. A little nervous, as centering them will not be easy!

Now I'm happy . I see real wood and real paneling. Maybe you can now get on with the rest of the build.

By leaps and bounds the better option. It's now presenting some very believable panels (with very nicely crafted coat of arms).
Still some eight weeks till Christmas. Wonder if it's only the stand for Dean to finish by then, or to still having to put the Lion in it's place as well.

It is just how you count: you have already done 2. And with the experience of those 2 beauties, you get the flow! And when you have finely 8, you want more.
But the most important: now you have them in a shape you (both) like.
Regards, Peter

Thank you Peter!
I was referring to the panels, as there are 12 panels on the walls I built so far. So after 4 done...8 more to go! ;)
There is 4 coat of arms for the walls, so 2 more of those. However, there is an upper wall, and I get to do all of this again... and it has doors too! Should be fun! ;)

Ok…the first 4 panels are on, along with the two coat of arms carvings. I really like this! So does the Lion! :p

Dean, your steady hand and sharp eyes produce carvings that few could approach in the end results. In this last photo the black background frame to the panes and black touched edges of the carving make it a work complete within itself. Outstanding work!!! Rich (PT-2)
