Hi ilanortho! Sorry, but I don’t remember exactly the color. It was something I picked up at Home Depot. An oil based stain, and then I covered it with an oil based satin sealer. I’ve been on the USS Constitution a few times and the deck is a very weathered, and not very attractive, grey color. I wanted something that looked good, but not too dark. It may have been provincial stain. Thanks for the note. Are you building a model?Beautiful. What did you use as deck stain?
Thanks Rafico very much!So far it look beautiful, outstanding work.I hope one day my ships will look beautiful like yours.Congratulations
Thanks. Not building this, but always looking for a pleasing somewhat realistic deck finish.Hi ilanortho! Sorry, but I don’t remember exactly the color. It was something I picked up at Home Depot. Thanks!HAPPY BIRTHDAY![]()
Thanks for the birthday wishes! . I am still working on the model. I started working on shrouds and standing rigging a while back. I’m applying rat lines to the main shroud now, which is my first experience with rat lines. Once you get the hang of tying little clove hitches, it not to bad. I’ll post some new photos soon.Hallo @Chuck Fulcher
we wish you all the BEST and a HAPPY BIRTHDAY
How is your project going? Are you still working on this model?
Looking at your fighting tops closely, because I am about to construct same for my 1:93 Mamoli Constitution, and thinking that the radiating battens would have caused the sharpshooters to risk tripping and falling. Marquardt page 94 shows planking, and while not entirely clear, would probably have been above the battens? Just asking.
