Another possible alternative is the one-minute cure epoxy. But it requires a lot of practice to get the two-part mix and timing just right.

...the best scope for contrapposto, and looking alive, is the head between the legsThe detached head gives me scope for some contraposto which always brings a scene alive.

Good to know about the Loctite 403!I don’t know why but I missed all of that discussion on glues. Sorry all.
I’m pinning my hopes on Loctite 403 which is a special CA for use where ventilation is impractical. It hardly fumes at all and @dockattner , who also is sensitive to ordinary CA says it’s the bizz.
I will of course, ventilate like Katrina and expose the minimum amount - which for setting rig knots will be miniMAL. (Mal being French for sickness, d’ye see? Oh, ha, ha, ha!)
As is, he looks like he's ready to pilot a ghost ship. Now, back to Emma related matters. There’s no sign of the crew yet but the Captain has made an appearance.
I think that’s a fair old casting. There is a hand and its walking stick to go with these pieces but I’m inclined to provide the salty old sea dog with a hook?. The detached head gives me scope for some contraposto which always brings a scene alive.
I reckon the hat will be suitable with a new peak at a flatter angle and the clog and gaiter footwear can easily become seaboots.
I’m keen to paint him right away so that he can supervise the building/destruction of Emma, the boat he named for his own true love.

I do like that ideaAs is, he looks like he's ready to pilot a ghost ship.
My $0.02, but I think a hook would come across as too pirate-y. Rather, perhaps a pegleg since the leg-wrappings will have to be re-done into trousers anyway.
