Hey Smithy, if you put your mind to it, you'll be able to do it and enjoy it at the same time. There are 89 frames plus 6 pieces that make up nose section at the bow.
Most of the frames consist of 3 pieces each.
Good afternoon Smithy. That is good to hear as it is a wonderful model of a beautiful ship. Cheers GrantI think perhaps it's worth me having a go at mine. I already own it, it's paid for already, and what's the worst that can happen? I think it's very likely that I won't finish it but I certainly won't finish it if I don't ever begin. I shall make it my next boat project after the Amati Xebec (which is a kind of preparation for Le Requin anyway).
Thanks for the encouragement, Dan.
That’s a great milestone and I’m sure you are glad to be done with building frames! The sanding too will pass and then the fun part of putting them on the keel and seeing something that looks like a ship is just around the corner! Now back to the shipyard.
I just reached part of a milestone; all 87 frames are now glued up. I will share the rest of this celebration when I have all the char sanded off, in who knows how long it will take.

Thanks PeterCongratulations! Now on to the next step x100+ which seems to be the way of this OCD hobby!
I must say, your workbench looks downright tidy and organized compared to mine.![]()
Good morning Daniel. Whew that is done. Now onto the part I personally dislike- removing all the char. It will be fun to finally start fitting them into the jig tho. Cheers GrantNow back to the shipyard.

Oh yes, in fact all surfaces of the frames will be sanded first then each notch both in frames and on the keel will need to be sanded out then each frame dry fitted before glue down. Will you do this before gluing the frames into the keel?

Not nearly as boring, tedious, or mind numbing as one might think. Thanks Daniel. Wow, what a job! That's something else for me to look forward to.![]()
