Thank you
Daniel

Better buy this one. It will last. Syren things made of wood with no steel ball bearings is a toy for a few applications. Then throw away.

Thank you Y.T. . But i am looking "the toy" ...HAHAHA . I really appreciate the link. I was looking them, but failed.

The rope walk, like the PL4 is too much for my needs.

The Model shipways ropewalk, that is a "toy", is enough for my needs for an occasional cannon or anchor rope. The SYREN model looks like a better toy. :)

Thank you !!!!

Sorry. I may had misunderstood. You meant a rope walk meaning a rope making machine. Then I would recommend this machine. I use it all the time. I give it 5 stars.

Very interesting design. Simple, not expensive and will cover all my needs.

There is something that I don't understand, could be you have the answer. "Is the power supply included ?"

Package Contents

  • VR (Vertical Ropewalk) machine.
  • Rotation direction switch.
  • Power supply (can be supplied separately)*.
"Can be supplied separately"... that confuse me

THANK YOU!!!!

This one is hanged up as high as you can in your room. Rope is being wound up in vertical position. You hang some weight at the end of the rope. The motor is included.

Great !!! Thank you for the picture !!! Watched the online video too. Is very simple. Like it too much. Will order one.

Last question: when it finish rotation, and you remove the weight, the rope it done, does not untwiste when you start to use it ?

Thank you !!

If I remember well, I saw a video where the pound aideis block by a small restrictive object to not allowing counterrotation during the rope making process, then the restriction is removed AT the END of process and the pound counterspin thus stabilizing the rope before used.

Hope my english is clear enough.

No reason to worry about rope untwisting. Just let the weight to wind as much as it wants. When weight stops rotating you burn the upper end of rope with lighter or a match (I use polyester yarn only). This secures rope end from untwisting. Note that newly twisted rope of any material (steel wire, polyester or cotton) wants to untwist. This is why the end of any rope must be tied up to prevent this.

As I said, I ordered the vertical rope walk and I am confidente that it works well, because you are using it and you recommended it. And all your modeling work is amazing.

On the twisting discussion, I have learned from videos and my own work using the model shipways rope walk that, as you wrote, you need to glue or made a knot on both ends. But, when you cut it to the desire working length, it does not untwiste. That is because you first turn the ropes (3 in my tool), independently on one direction. Then you turn the 3 ropes on the other direction, now altogether. They will now twist over each one to form the final rope. "The counter forces" of the 3 independent ropes turned on one direction and then the 3 ropes all together turned to the other direction to get the final desired rope, is what keep the rope untwisted. So I was thinking how that works with just a hanging weight.

In a few months I will discover it by myself .... HAHAHA. The company is on vacation till June 18. Shipping will resume after that day. So I expect to get the tool during the first weeks of July... I hope :-).

Added an image of a rope i did yesterday and cut it for use. This section isn't glued. A small untwisting occurs. But the rope keeps it shape

Hey, Dematosdg. When tope is wound on the machine (any rope walk) and you want cutting a piece out off the rope you made, put a drop of CA glue at the place you want cutting. When CA dries, cut with EXACTO knife there. This is the way to prevent the rope to unwind at the place of cut.
Also note that you may want to "bake" the polyester rope if you want it to not unwind at the place of cutting. This is not always necessary and it is a start of different topic.

I Found the video source for my precedent post #9 : See Kudin vids on YouTube, with Rope part 3 on the title. Sorry, have no link with my phone, I was not able to copies IT. Hé used the vertical ropewalk.

Ok... I was able to find Kudin's videos. But now I can't find the way to translate the video titles.

OK, I found it : Kudin Vertical Ropewalk
This guy have a lof very valuable videos.

Fantastic, thank you so much. I was able to open CC and translate from Russian to English. The translation isn't great, but helps a lot!!!

At the end, if I am correct, he isn't so happy. But i am not sure. For my needs it will be more than enough the quality of those ropes.

THANK YOU !!!! :-)
