Layout for copper plates

I know I had to look up what gore lines were, I have only coppered one ship, certainly no expert here lol I just had amazing results with this glue on the copper I tryed to chim in.
About the raised tiles on the keel I filed mine smooth, then added the false keel, and put it on her stand .

Use adhesive backed copper tape. Use a gray primer undercoat as the adhesive on the tape seems to react chemically with the primer in a way that after a few days you will need a razor blade to get them off. To prevent the tape from curling up over time where it over laps, wipe the surface down with acetone, sand it lightly with 600 grit sandpaper and coat it with spar varnish. I have a couple videos on my you tube channel that might help. @gregbaumgartner8257

I love your model

I looked up your YouTube channel to find the copper plating and got distracted by the gun carriage hardware video. So far I have made two of the hooks shown and am learning the process. A little wonky but with a little practice it should turn out ok 17499112186871078037131179673082.jpg
Thank you
Thank you. I have several builds on this web forum. This is my latest. The one in the photos is a commissioned model.

It looks like it's deno time again. The CA glue isn't cutting it. Plates are getting knocked off when I brush against them.
Ordered some of the Super Phatic glue but at over$20 for 50 ml I need a better solution.
Try BSI odourless CA medium, it's manufactured in California - Ca ! Hah, a pun! Shouldbe cheaper to you than the UK one.

Here's one of my hooks. Like the hook but out of scale. Made it with the veryIMG20250614113834.jpg smallest top of my jeweler's pliers
I'm trying to figure out how to make them using a piece of wire or drill bit.

Copper foil can be obtained from stained glass supply outlets. I always burnish mine with a plastic spoon or something similar and never have a problem with lifting or curling.

Here are two sources for the hooks you may want to try
