Those stern decorations are crazy! And nice job on the rudder. I’ve always found rudders to be a challenge.

C'mon, John! At 1:78 you can carve those Ruman numerals into the ship just like in real life !

Oh, what's the over/under on how many of those you lose and end up needing to order another set ?

Paul, indeed, you’d think that I could just score the numerals onto the keel , but new brass numerals should arrive in a few days. I did buy extras - they will certainly be needed.

PS: YES, I know that the kit provided pintle and gudgeons are way out-of-scale – and too short as well. And yes – many bits for this build should have been blackened to be correct. But,

Need (want) to finish this project – it will be just a hull model for two reasons 1) don’t want to spend another half decade with her. 2) nowhere to display it. The Admiral suggested that I already “own” too much real-estate in our home…..She has very fair points; so sharing some images…

The Vasa, the Santisima cross section, the Santa Maria, the model cars, and the airliners are the best that will happen…. before turning this place into a model museum – or so its been expressed to me.

I would love to display the Sovereign on the fireplace mantle – won’t happen? Hmmm TBD.....All good – having fun within this hobby – helps to keep my brain occupied when I want to work at the shipyard, and also explore all of your great build logs, your work and knowledge here at Ships of.......As always thanks for keeping interested in this log as well.

Vic thanks - yes rudders tend to be labor intensive. Yea those 600+ bronze bits make this ship a real eye catcher as well. Thanks for your post.

Thanks, I am putting together old images of fireplace mantles that indeed, historically, were a logical place to display model ships. AND as a
hull model - it should fit perfectly --- well In my mind at least.... Oh and that clock, we happened to buy it in London in a Portobello Road antique shop in
Notting Hill.
Worked for a while it has been silent ever since 1996. We did have it looked at - it was cleaned - but still silent. Everytime we have a minor earth movement it goes out of calibration

Moving forward - Numerals arrived yesterday. How to glue??? hmmmm - TBD.

So, done with the stern area numerals, and the rudder - few images. yes, numerals should be blacked........I tried a couple - preferred brass look.
Now time to work on the bowsprit, and foremast,

Yes -- in retrospect, I don't think that it was worth all of the re-doo's that became necessary. Very labor intensive. Oh several disappeared from my tweezers as I was approaching to set them into place. Glue - an issue as well. And they are still not to my liking; angle is wrong - but as you said, "so small" (done venting)
I will need to also do the other side as well as those for the forward keel area.

That is correct for all large 17th century vessels when the foremast is located close to the front of the forecastle.
