HMS Enterprise 1774 POF 1:48.

Good afternoon. I redid the deck clamps on the bulkwalks. I did not like the kit cherry ones so took them off (a while ago). The kit has all this and the planking on the bulkwark painted red which would be fine however I am not painting these and the contrasting wood colours did not go down well with me.

I have used a 2mmx5mm birch wood for the clamp- it is close enough to the maple not to distract.
I tested some tree nailing :

I rather liked this look and tree nailed the new clamps .

I also did a little bit of neating up the gun ports but this takes a while and I did not finish these….getting there tho.
Cheers Grant

Wow, beautiful work, even up close ! :)

Grant! That's some gorgeous work! The combination of wood you've chosen works splendidly - a very appealing contrast between light and dark and yellow/tan and red/brown. What is the wood you're using for the deck planking? Also, at scale, what is the height of the combings?

Blessings.
Chuck
Hi Chuck …adding to previous post the combings themselves are 1.5mm

Wow, beautiful work, even up close ! :)
Thank you very much Jeff.
Grant,
As Chuck just said - YES indeed gorgeous work.
Good morning John. Thanks for th compliment it is appreciated.
Indeed very neat work, the wood colors are great .

Jan
Thank kindly Jan. The cherry and maple is a hard contrast however I quite like how it is turning out.
Love the look of the birch in the photos!

Hope it looks as good in person. The first photo (of the deconstruction) looked ugly/messy but you cleaned it up well. The finished product, with treenails and all, looks great!!
Good morning Brad. I am happy how the birch and maple came out- so similar I can’t really see the difference. I have a love hate relationship with this build and I cannot count how many redo’s I am doing to get it looking reasonable. Luckily boiling water and nail polish remover has worked a treat so far for my deconstruction. I am finally getting it to look how i want the “look and feel” to be, so going forward I think my redos should slow down…….hopefully ROTF. Thank you for the compliment and checking out my project it is appreciated. Cheers Grant

It is hard to tell from the photos but is appears you went the extra step to use different thicknesses for the spirketting, quick work and forecastle clamp. Assuming you did, that is very impressive.
