Silent Mary by Mellpapa

Hey Mellpapa,

You know I'm a huge fan of your Silent Mary. It's amazingly well done. One really has to admire what you've built without any ship plans. :D Thumbsup

I think you deserve my utmost respect. Thank you for showing us and thank you for seeing the project through to completion.

I do have one small request, though: please take some more beautiful photos with the sea as a backdrop. It makes the Silent Mary look even more impressive...First Place MetalFirst Place Metal:D
GIG1810, hello
Thank you for becoming a fan. :)
The Silent Mary isn't quite finished yet.
We took a commemorative photo now that the basic running rigging is complete.
The martingale stay rigging still needs doing.
Ideally, I'd take her to the quay for an outdoor shoot, but it's winter now with snow and wind, so that's impossible.
Come spring... yes... around April or May next year, I plan to take her to the quay for an outdoor shoot with the sea as a backdrop.
I'll composite the sea and platform in Photoshop.
I'm looking forward to next year's outdoor shoot.;)
Until then, I'll be posting photos composited using Google Gemini,
so you'll just have to make do with those.:D

Mr RichardG, hello
Thank you for your kind words.
I'm not particularly skilled at model-making, but I'm glad it turned out somewhat similar to the concept illustration.
Please see the image comparing it to the concept illustration.

You are way too modest. The thread demonstrates a very high level of manual skill, technique and visual awareness.

It is quite natural for an artist to feel dissatisfied with their work. When you return to it in the future you will see it as we do.

This model is truly wonderful. As I said earlier, I am not a great fan of cinema or of fantasy, but I love this model. Your work is art!

Hey Mellpapa,

It's so incredibly nice of you to have gone to the trouble of fulfilling my wish.

She now looks as if she's still sailing the world's oceans. Fantastic, I'm very impressed. I've never worked with Google Gemini before. But what you've done with it is truly a masterpiece... :D Thumbsup

Question for you: Is it difficult to work with Google Gemini? If it's not too much trouble, could you briefly write to me how you were able to transport the model into such a great background? Feel free to send me a private message. I don't want to disturb your build report with my question...

Best regards,

Guenther

Hello RichardG,
When it comes to building sailing ship models, there are many in the world far more skilled than I.
Especially on Ships of Scale, there are numerous master model builders.
My own skill... well, let's say I'm about average. ;)
Even so, I'm called a “hentai”.ROTF

Hello GIG1810,
Getting Google Gemini to synthesise content might be surprisingly straightforward.
I'm sure others would find it useful too,
so I'll explain it in a thread when I get a chance.
Do wait until the materials are ready.:D

(risos):D
Quanto à construção do Queen Anne's Revenge...
Pesquisando na internet, vejo que muitas outras pessoas já o construíram, então acho que não há necessidade de eu fazer um...;)

I got a call saying the thread I ordered had arrived, so I went and bought it.
The thread I was running low on had been used for running rigging, so there was even less left. I'm glad the thread arrived.

The bow section is also cluttered with running rigging. I'll look into the Martingale stays before rigging them.
For now, I think I've got the basic running rigging done.

Once the basic rigging is complete, it's time for test shots.
It's not finished yet, but I've taken shots from various angles I liked. I'll skip the explanation.

While filming, I thought... it'd be great if Salazar and the Spanish marines were aboard... so I decided to create Salazar and his entourage, along with the sailors and Spanish marines operating the cannons. :D
I'll work on it when I have free time.
I'll need to make a small boat too.

Apologies if there are any spelling mistakes in the rigging.o_O
Good morning. Wow just a feast for the eyes. Brilliant. Cheers Grant
