I remember building that ship! Are you doing sails? It’s been a while since I’ve been back to working on her, but I’ve jumped back in and have made some progress. I finished all of the cannons and I have all the masts made and have been working on standing rigging for the most part. Man I love clove hitches…

I think so! I had bought the ZHL sail kit and I don’t really like the look of them, so I did some research online and saw that the Mantua sails should fit so I ordered those. They look much better. If they aren’t what I’m looking for then I’ll try my hand and hand making them.I remember building that ship! Are you doing sails?
I also ordered some of the Crown rope you suggested on another thread of mine. Thank you for the tip, it looks really close from what I can see in the picturesThis is how Ohla makes sails. I used the same technique and although I had no experience, the results were great. Try your hand at it! Ohla used stretch satin, 97% cotton and 3% spandex which makes sails able to be stretched and starched into billowed shape.
Reminds me of tons of hours spent on one of these. Finally starting to put some sails on! I used the mantua sails and lightly stained them with a pine tar/ mineral spirits mix for a slightly weathered look. Also just a few pics of the ship.

Exactly! I’m starting to see the end though. Sails, Canon doors, anchors, rope hanks, and a nice mount and she should be complete.Reminds me of tons of hours spent on one of these.
My daughter was an invalid for two months after surgery. I created a jig to make hanks with and asked her to make all my hanks. That saved me a week’s worth of work and time.Exactly! I’m starting to see the end though. Sails, Canon doors, anchors, rope hanks, and a nice mount and she should be complete.
We will see how it turns out. This is my first experience with smoking brisket. Maybe I’ll wind up coming over to your house for brats and cheeseburgers!Sounds like the guy with the brisket wins! I’m down to brats and cheeseburgers in my freezer.
Bring your sewing fingers! Bring the whole forum and we’ll get this ship on the water! We will see how it turns out. This is my first experience with smoking brisket. Maybe I’ll wind up coming over to your house for brats and cheeseburgers!
