Eh... cool technology... I'd love to buy one like that, I need to get one closer to making the masts. And about the Z-axis, you got it right. ;)

Mast and spars are done. Cleats by DryDock. Not 100% happy with the result. Especially not with the cherry wood (I don't like it compared to pear it is rough). Anyway, pictures :-)

I will do the deadeyes and other metals tuff for the rig next, but won't rigg her soon. Polotsk Rigging first or another smaller kit :-)

cheers

Dirk

A couple of very nice detailed masts and spars, Dirk.

It's a while .... and frustration continues .. haha ... started the deadeyes with the chainplates ... and ... these are way to short tob be fixed at the whale ... ahhh come on ...

The boat that came with the kit is unfortunately a scale disaster ... never is this 1/72 or 1/64 ... so .. useless. Should be a small dinghy anyway.

I painted the 3D printed oars by Seahorse and I used the massive storage cages, even you voted against, I prefer them as they have the same size as the stanchions.

I will not rigg the Thorsen soon but I like to prepare and it was a good reason to undust my ropewalk and do some ... rope. That was fun and satisfying so I did a loooot of rope :-)

Thank you guy, I appreciate your kind comments :) It's a tough build.

After that, there was a first airbrush session. Everything above and including the whales will be black. The original ship may well have been black all over but I don't wanna hide the beautiful cherry hull. The inside will also be sprayed black. Among other things, I HAVE to do it because a lot of filler will be necessary at the stern and bow.

Cheers Dirk
Once the resin hull is fully hidden - and given the fact one can manage that - it looks like a beautiful craft. Congrats! Your paint job is perfect.

Nicely scratch build brass additions, Dirk. Indeed a bit frustrating when the kit-parts does not fit.
Regards, Peter

I love looking at photos of your work, Dirk. I work clean - but you...! The detailing and craftsmanship give me great joy! I would love to see your models in person one day... alas...

Äähh .. ok ... mmm .. I wonder about your definition of "clean" now ...

You really are the epitome of working efficiently without being sterile. I write to you as your humble servant... or what was that called again?

Whenever you come back to Germany, you have to come up to Hamburg anyway, then we will meet, you are always welcome in the West of Hamburg, close to the river and the green parks here :-)
