While we're on the subject, I also want to show how I imitate the eye splices in stays. Maybe some people would like to use it. I think the photos themselves can tell the story.

Today I completed the main topmast stay and the fore topmast preventer stay.














It’s important to keep in mind that the stays are wrapped over everything else at the masthead. That means all the other fittings—pendants, shrouds, blocks secured to the masthead, halyards, and so on—must be completed before the stays are put in place.

And I'm assuming, based also on my recollection of rigging my Bluenose, that this method is the best to avoid snagging other lines. I attached as many of the blocks to the various spars as I could off the ship. I hope this holds true for the Constitution, as well.

And yes, Mustafa, your Constitution is looking... MAJESTIC!
