I strongly recommend that you study the sails' appearance before mounting yours. These sails look good but no crew would allow their own to look so haphazard. Indeed, the lower sails on the fore and main masts present real fire hazards if the cannons are engaged, which those on the model depict the cannons run out in firing position. It's just my recommendation; of course, it's your model.Thank you, this is great information. Yes, I have a set of sails for the ship and planned on using them. I would really like to go for the look in the attached photo. I like how having the lower sails partially unfurled makes it a little easier to see everything on the deck at once.

Is it the center parts of the course sagging that makes it look haphazard? Just trying to learn, thanks!I strongly recommend that you study the sails' appearance before mounting yours. Thanks for responding! Yes, the center hangs much too low. The sail should be braided up to the yard when under fighting conditions. The other sails are much too loose. They would be spilling the wind and causing the ship to make little or no headway. Tighten them up. Again, these are just recommendations. It's your model; you should make it to your satisfaction. Is it the center parts of the course sagging that makes it look haphazard? Just trying to learn, thanks!
