Having following Epicdoom's build of the Pearl with great interest I've decided to post a Build Log of the same Ship, although I have found that kit I have is an updated version, two things I've found different is 1. The cabin door facia becomes the front wall of the cabin ie no bulkhead behind it. 2. The hidden gun ports line up to bulkheads properly that is not half way or slightly obscure of the bulkhead. As with Joes build thus far parts have fitted perfectly with minimum adjustment too no adjust needed, also the instruction manual is a little vague in parts but is easy to figure out with knowledge of my first build of HMS Jalouse so it would be confusing for a first time builder tackling this kit, some of the grammar and English words used are a little tricky.

So I will post some photos of my progress thus far up to : Keel layer down, Bulkheads install,LED wiring and lights in place, and some painting of ornamental figures, pre build of Captain cabin walls, windows etc.
So guys watch this space don't be too harsh on my build photo's or build methods all feedbaelcomed and appreciated.

Footnote:: Come back Epicdoom (Joe). All is forgivin we miss your guidance.

Ok fellow builders her is a few pics of build so far excuse the photo with the blue tape I was working out where the LED would enter the Cabin I've put them as close to the roof as I dare. Sorry about the upside-down pics I will adjust that with the next lot of pics. As you can see the bulkheads don't interfere with the gun ports like Joes did. Pictures with Bulwarks in place are dry fit at this stage, the false deck has been glued and the front wall of the Captain's cabin. The wiring of the LED's was placed through the bulwarks to the cabin cavity the side cavity of the cabin the wires come through the bulwarks below roof level, also one out of the stern plate to illuminated the rear windows, I drilled down into the stern plate the as Joe and that was scary had a little mishap but its amazing what putty and paint will hide. The Switch/battery holder that came with the as did the LED's the wires from it run down the keel stem close to the hull but hidden in grooves that I carefully dremelled so they sit flush planks will hide them, hope I never have to redo LED's if they blow. So its Beer o'clock here downunder till next post cheers.20191202_162528.jpg20191206_150917.jpg20191206_164343.jpg20191207_165805.jpg20191207_165829.jpg20191208_175716.jpg20191208_175723.jpg20191208_175741.jpg20191208_175801.jpg20191210_085809.jpg20191210_085816.jpg20191210_085836.jpg20191213_163647.jpg20191213_163654.jpg20191213_163702.jpg20191214_165907.jpg20191214_165917.jpg

Hello Hoffy, Many thanks for starting the log, great progress!! Thumbs-Up It would be most beneficial for all forum readers if you will post pictures in full view. Once you upload your images, just don't forget to click 'Full image' :)

Bulwarks in place after multi dry fitting and some fairing done on bulkheads on the starboard side. I have a good friend whom is a master builder who has given me heaps of encouragement and his knowledge on how to go about ship building, Because of my past blinds of assembling plastic models and speed of which I have completed them he has urged me to slow my build rate down with ship building, this is not easy for me to adhere to with a lot of time up my
sleeve ie I'm retired this build I will try to slow the @#%& down lol.

Hallo,
I just edited your posts and deleted the double photos - multiple copies are only happening, when you click the button - so one click is one copy of the photo.
BTW: after posting with "Post Reply" you can every time edit your post (incl. deleting photos etc.) when you click on "Edit" at the bottom edge of the post.
BTW2: Before posting with "Post Reply" you can also try the "Preview", so you can check your post before posting.....

I am looking forward to see your model in this building log - it will get interesting

Thanks for the heads up on posting photos, editing Uwek think I got a bit carried away with editing the photos to full scale I did that via my iPad be better do it on desktop computer in future. When you say " it will get interesting" hope that's in a good way interesting hahha!

Hello Hoffy, Every build on our forum is interesting, because they are unique ;)

Thanks Jim I belong to another forum that don't allow the building of this ship on there sight not even to mention it by name also if they knew I was building it they would ask me to leave, that to me is discrimination, so after much thought I am going to resign from that site and stay with SOS and they can go $#%^ themselves.

Anyway a few pics to bring the build up to date basically bulwarks glued in place cannon supports also and painted, some bevelling to starboard side bulkheads. Dry fit of cabin windows and painted LRD light up inside nicely although the camera makes them appear brighter than they actually are I'm happy with them. Its rather hot here the past few days so not getting much progress but that's a good thing it slows my pace down.20191216_203022.jpg20191216_203035.jpg20191216_203040.jpg20191220_172943.jpg20191220_172950.jpg

Hoffy: I am also interested in this kit. I was wondering if you purchased it direct from ZHLModels.com or through some other source like eBay? Also, was there any type of import tax or tariff? Thanks!

Wolfspaw gidday yes I ordered hit direct from ZHL as I live in Australia there was no tariff or tax just postal cost of $40us.

Thanks for sharing Cobber :)
No probs mate this is my first ever build log,so far the build has been great bulkhead and keel fit how they should. Are you going to blacken the hull and have sails I'm going to leave the Hull timber and just blacken some of the deck the same that eurodoom has done with his and probably go with sails furled no quite decided on that yet. Enjoy!!

Thanks for the quick reply. Buying direct seems to be the best way to know what your getting. I will probably go that route also.
