San Felipe 1690 from ZHL

Hello everyone. I am still around and have been pecking away at the San Felipe. It has been a long time since I have posted, no real excuses, so let me bring everyone up to speed.

I took a little time off from the build mostly to give myself a break. It took me a lot of time messing about with cannon rigging. I finally found a decent way to get things tied in such a way that I now believe I can do it well. Still need to establish a decent way to handle the breach ropes.

Let's see.

• I finished the officers' quarters. I may add a few bits here and there, but I can consider it done.
• Just last night I finished glueing the plastic pieces to the stern.
• I am mostly done with the deck hardware and such. Now that I have finished the bow I will focus here. Probably take a couple more weeks
• One of my tasks to do is to figure out the belay pin situation. I am going to put on sails, where the kit does not come with sails.'

I'll start posting weekly again.

Good morning Scot. You are owning this. Lovely work. Wow I don't envy you rigging all those cannons. The motivating factor will be - It will look awesome once done. Cheers Grant

Holy Smokes!!!! A sail kit!! I was planning on adding sails and was kind of dreading having to go through the process.

I'll order from ZHL straight away.

Keeping up to speed. This week I knocked off a couple more items on the deck. I think I have completed the items on the stern, need to double check the diagrams. Still need to get the capstan in place.

Cannons are built. There are a few that are still in pieces because you need to sort of pseudo complete them in place. No need for rigging because they are under the deck. Also I am going to be completing the cannon rigging this week. making these little coils by sticking them to some blue masking tape then gluing them. I'll do about 6 to 8 per evening. Once these are done I'll measure and start working on the Breach lines.

Making progress. oh oh . I need to touch up the paint on the stern.
