HMS Victory 1:72 - Caldercraft by Gilbertm

Hello friends
I have now completed the all the 12 pounder long guns (total of 30). It went a bit faster than I expected :)
Next will be installing and rigging those cannons. However, since most of them will not be seen once the quarter deck is mounted, I'll only rig the visible part (probably 7 or 8 on each side)

Looking good Gilbert. I totally agree with you. To rig non visible cannons would be like pushing a car uphill. Cheers Grant

Good for you. There are a lot of contemporary models that have cannon but little or no rigging on the cannon, so you are in good company if you do not rig all the guns. :) Some of the old models do have breech ropes rigged, and a few have the running out tackle but not one of them has the train tackle. Seems like the old time artisans disliked rigging cannon as much as modern builders.:):)

Hello friends
As indicated in my previous post, I am starting to rig the main gun deck cannons.
Only 5 cannons will be visible once the quarter dek is installed; I am therefore rigging only these 5 cannons.
I also decided not to have rope coils but rather to simulate the way it is shown on the Victory (picture below)

I have now rigged the long guns cannons on one side.

Let's now get started on the next five for the port side.
As Kurt commented, once 3 or 4 are done it gets easier and definitely faster :)

The HMS Victory Anatomy kit does this since the entire hull on one side is open.

Gilbert I’ve just caught up on your progress and it’s coming along quite nice. My old boss used to say that’s what you get for taking a vacation. Haha. I like the cannons as well.
