These are nuts to tie, I've made 3, lost 1 on my bench somewhere. Think I'll only make them for the 6 guns on the upper deck and 6 or 8 on the gun deck. It seems a lot of finished models I see only use the thicker recoil lines.?

Hi very impressed with your model. I was wondering the approximate age of this vessel and would the bilge pump tubes pass through the decks into the bottom of the bilge itself.

Has any one read this book and will it have any recommendations of a bilge pumps c1830 English Packet Ship?

And yes the bilge pumps go through both decks but not much past the gun deck.

If you look at contemporary models at RMG, Preble Hall, and other nautical museums, the guns are rigged in different amounts of completion. I think the choice is really up to you and you would be in great company regardless of your choice. In general it seems that fully rigged model tend to have the guns, but the amount of rigging varied. Admiralty style models, that is with no rigging, rarely, if ever, seem to have any guns on the models.

Thanks Allan, I think I'll just put the breech lines on the visible 6 or 8 on the gun deck, and fully rig the 6 on the top deck.
I bought the Enterprise 1:160 and have put the Ontario off to the side for now.

Hello, I started back on this build. I find the instructions ( for me ) hard to follow so i took a break and did another kit.
I've mounted the canons on the gun deck with just recoil rigging. Next is to finish the bow head rails, bowsprit and figure out the mounting of the snow mast then I can instal the upper deck.

Moving right along I've finished the bow and bowsprit and installed the upper deck.
There are some issues with the height of the bullworks as the port side is higher than the starboard. And I'll have to make sure the bullworks at the bow and stern are the right height for the canons.
