Greetings l have this kit on the dry dock waiting for the slipway to open up. I plan on doing Panarts Victory bow section this build season. Read winter I’m from northern Minnesota. I was wondering if you did the frame corrections to the bow before planking it. was to wide on some and to narrow on others. Don’t know if you’ve seen build the titanic uk site it shows that issue and templates to correct it. also a issue by issue build log. Lots of info and links some are dead due to age of site but the site is still up I checked before posting.

You also mentioned PE walls are you using Minibrass etchings? I have them and will replace the printed cards as such. Expensive but this will be a “rivet counter” type build when I start.

I am just using the minibrass etchings on the bow and stern well decks so I can correct the horrible yellow colour.

I agree. Some of the Amati design choices made me scratch my head especially with accurate info all over the web too bad the TMRA went south.

Almost finished with the planking as I have completed the mid section on the bottom.

Planking finished now time for the messy bit.

All sanding and filling done next up will the steps for marking out for the next layer of planking that holds the portholes.

On to the next stage witch is adding the second layer of strips that have the portholes and completes the hull before painting I have only shown the first two pieces as the rest is much the same.

Almost finished cutting out the templates for the second layer of planking so here's what I have been up to.And I will be cutting out all of this.And get it to fit on this piece of thin ply.Like so

All template's have been finished and the port side has been finished all but the tidying up and sanding and filling.

Both second layers of planking finished and portholes drilled out and the rest of the final layer of details at bow and stern in place but still a little way off any painting.

Moving on to the next stage this involves putting in all the tiny eyelets to represent the portholes and I have the centre propshaft in position.

Very impressive, you have done very well on this build so far.

First coat of undercoat and top coat of black most of the hull work is out of the way just some etched parts to go on in the next few days.

Wow looking good. Been away for awhile so you’ve been busy. I’ve read that the template guides were troublesome. Did you run into issues with them? What’s your opinion of the eyelet “portholes”? I don’t know if I should try to source a different method or go with what’s in the kit. Just trying plan ahead. Happy Holidays btw.

As my drilling is not quite spot on I might remove some and see what it looks like as my last one looked better without them as the portholes were flush on the real thing myself I can go either way.

Forget to add the unwrapped pictures along with the walls for the next stage of the build.

For builds of this type where the original ship had steel plates I generally used bass wood blocks at the bow and stern and carved the proper contour. It saves a lot of filling and sanding. Your progress looks great, she will be an impressive model.

Just found a bit of time to do some more work.
This time I have finished the cabin walls on the promonade deck and started planking the boat deck.
