I like the longer one, only issue I would see is you might have to adjust shape of sails to account for change in length, if you put full sail up!

I got some work done on the rudder! The dark areas at the base of the tiller is just wet from water trying to swell the wood as it is all press fit including the bamboo pin holding the tiller to the rudder post!

With limited time this weekend I was able to make some hardware for the top mast! I first made and soldered the forward rings fitting them to the top mast then made the rear ones then soldered them together! Tonight they take the blackening bath !
Wasn’t as easy as I thought making them!

I have to ask, is there a rule of thumb on design and installation of deadeye chain plates on a model such as the pilot boat SWIFT? when I build and try and attach mine the deadeye it seems to be coming up to the top railing and would probably be rubbing the rigging on the railing and I feel that would not be right to have rope rubbing back and forth on a real ship especially for a standing rigging .

Glad to see you back at it, I had a LONG break in the hobby, more than 10 years mostly of frustration when I lost contact with local club when hobby shop we met at closed. I got back active when stuck home working when Covid hit.

I see another hobby project nosed in behind the Swift.
