Black Swan

How did you paint the decorations on the sides. Is that freehand?
Hey Namabiiru,
I drew a drawing and then edited it with Adobe Photoshop. I then printed it on ultra-thin film using a laser printer. The height of the border is 1.75 mm = 0.069 inch.
Thanks for your friendly words..Merci.....

Günther,

WOW! What an incredibly well done dinghy. That is quite a piece of work in itself.
Hey Rubus,

thank you very much for the nice compliments ... thank you very much and I'm glad that you like my dinghy.

Did you print the red background onto white film?

I used transparent film for the print. The background of the dinghy was white. The colour of the foil was red, with a transparent border, so that the white colour of the boat could shine through the pattern of the transparent foil!

I hope I can express myself in a way that you understand! If not, please ask again. :D

You described it perfectly! I’ve never found clear water slide film for printers. It’s so beautiful, what you have done!

I can only recommend using the film with a blue backing. Then you can see the images more clearly than if the backing is white. Thumbsup

I think you misunderstand. I'm not talking about the backing paper, I'm talking about the film itself. Printers, be it laser or inkjet, cannot print white. Therefore, if you need white in your decal, and the background on your model is not white, then you must print on a white decal film. If the surface to which you are mounting the decal is white, then you can print on clear film (as shown above) and the white from the model shows through.

Does it work with inkjet printers? Many laserjet products don’t.

First - please note that I am not in any way endorsing this brand. It's just the first that came up in Ama$on.

As for using with an inkjet, I'm sure your concerns are the same as mine - won't the ink run in the water? A little bit of research (Google is your friend) found a number of people using Microscale's Liquid Decal Film or some other sealer to coat the decal prior to submerging it in water.

The film is relatively inexpensive, so it wouldn't cost much to experiment.
