The lifeboat looks perfectly in scale and adds to your impressive build. Seeing that it is a tug maybe something more "industrial" than "fancy/elaborate" would be a good idea for the stand.

Precision all the way shows in your build and direct presentation that emphasizes the boat as the central feature without distraction. PT-2

But the water should be "HOT" - a little bit steaming is helping - and some modeler add some Ammoniak also into the water......

Buy a wallpaper tray & soak the planks in the tray.
