Work light for your MF70.

You got the original one, but when you search on Ali express there are special led rings for car headlights. When you search for a while you find only the ring.

I bought the 50 mm ring and it fits well, better said it fits exactly around the head of the MF 70. You got 2 piece for the price of around the 5€
And it works just perfect. I use 12V battery to light it but a small adapter works perfectly too.

I bought it through the link with Express. I would lloveto know how you attached the light ring to the head of the machine in such a way that it does not fall off when it is running

This light comes with commercial-strength double-sided sticky tape. once the surface is cleaned using the alcohol, just firmly press. I have been using this light system for more than a few years and it hasn't fallen out once. If in doubt, use the glue, as Stephan suggested in the above posts

@Jimsky @shota70

Thanks Jim, it is simple, just glue it to the shaft.

I did something extra and wanted to protect the led against metal and dust.
I made a ring of plastic, I used an old CD recordable. And used hot glue around it to attach it to the led ring. A plastic black sheet, made from a piece of a spray can cover, to protect your eyes for the light

For the battery I used 23A alkaline 12 volt batteries. I place them in an old battery compartment used for led lights (got them in every decoration store). And adjust it to fit in the 23A because they are not so long. Glued it on the top of the drill with hot glue and the light is done.

I've been trying to do the Z-Axis upgrade with the bearings. Had a couple questions;
- Should ball bearing grease be used for these kinds of bearings?
- Is there a way to insert the bearings from the top, or do I have to unscrew the locknut allll the way?

Thanks!

Hello folks
Are you seriously interested in upgrading your Proxxon MF 70?
I have for sale a raising block and a mini adjustable tilt platform. Both are brand new items never used in a project.

The raising block is 3D printed with high precision from 100% infill. The height of the block is 50mm. It is quite easy to install it to your Proxxon MF 70 milling machine. It has 4 brass bushings and 4 extended screws to be fixed onto the base of the machine.
Price: £75.00 and free postage (only within UK)

The mini tilt platform has a small size to fit into mini milling machines like Proxxon MF 70 and Emco Unimat series. It is made from cast aluminium with high precision and has dimensions 88mmx 63mmx 21.5mm. There are 19 threaded holes (M6) to allow objects like mini milling vices to be secured on the upper side of the platform.
The platform can hold approxiamtely 3kg force enough to most of the mini millling operations involving wood, nonferrous metals, plastics etc. It is attached to the table top or breadboard via a single cap screw through a slot.
Angular locking is done with a single cap screw which can provide tilting from 180° to the opposite side to accommodate adjustment in unlimited space locations.

Kit includes: 1x mini tilt platform, 2x M6 cap screws, 2x M6 flat square nuts,1x M6 allen key
Price: £120.00 and free postage (only within UK) SOLD

Yes and yes all the way.

- You will need to use a grease or available lubricant for the bearing to work smooth
- no other way, you will need to unscrew all 4 bolts holding the cap and then rotate the Z-axis wheel to disassemble. Be careful to hold the milling head so it doesn't fall.

Can you find the seller by chance? I would interested in purchasing...

I will try to find it but it's been a few years since i bought that. Bear ib mind that these mini platforms can cost a lot because are made for special type of jobs.

yes, I know. I can see (from your images) that it nicely fits into Proxxon mill alone with their wise. Would you consider selling yours, without the column extension? If yes, wright me the PM with your offer.

Hi Ian,
Welcome and to your question

Yes and yes all the way.
Thanks, got it installed now :)
Should I be worried about the `stuff` I pulled off the wire while unscrewing the locknut? (what kind of grease is that?)

Thanks! I messed around and untightened the set screws on the left of the motor base and was able to pull the entire motor + rod/cap off the Z tower.

I guess buying ff230 version of Proxxon mill would eliminate most of the problems described in this thread?

Description

Product Description

The MICRO Mill FF 230 is a small, accurate milling system used to mill, drill and countersink steel, cast iron, aluminum, brass and plastic. The headstock swivels through 360°, indicated on a scale. Height is adjustable. One revolution equals 1/32" (1mm) travel, 1 division equals .002" (0,05mm). The quill and headstock may be locked in position, which is essential when milling. The powerful permanent magnet motor drives via a poly-v-belt, yielding high torques, especially at lower speeds. The machine comes with three collets of 15/64", 5/16" and 25/64" (6, 8 and 10mm). The solid table has a size of 10 5/8" x 3 5/32" (270 x 80mm) and is T-slotted to 15/32" x 15/64" x 13/64" (the MICROMOT norm of 12 x 6 x 5mm). Technical data: Speeds 280 - 550 - 870 - 1,200 - 1,500 - 2,200rpm; Table Size 10 5/8" x 3 5/32" (270 x 80mm), Column Size Ø 1 3/8" x 15 3/4" long (35 x 400mm); X-Y Travel 6 11/16" x 2 9/16" (170mm x 65mm); Overall Height 20" (500mm); Volts 110 - 120V AC, 60Hz; Weight 41 lb. (17kg) Important: For best results when milling, it is recommended to lock the headstock. This is easily done via the FF 230's lock levers.
