Charles Morgan Bark 1:64 POB - By Bill-R

Hello everyone,

Progress is going slow with planking, but it's moving along. I spent a lot of time figuring out how the hull planks meet the counter at the stern, but I think I have gotten it resolved. I needed to fair the bulkheads going towards the stern and the filler block at the stern quite a bit more to get the planks to lay correctly.

Thanks Quint. Your time at Mystic Seaport must have been a lot of fun. I would love to someday get up to see the Charles Morgan.

I really enjoyed my time at the Seaport, felt like a kid walking into a Candy Store at times. As an FYI I spent time working in the Ships Document and Research Department. While there I had access to all the historical documents and photos of the Morgan. Amazing pictures of when the Museum acquired her, in original condition. I was able to obtain some good reference material and documentation. My plan is, at some point, to build a version of the pre-restored Morgan using the Model Shipways Kit (need to finish my Kate Cory). Hope you get up there someday!
Good luck with the build

It sounds like you will be able to build a very correct version of the Charles Morgan with that documentation. Good luck with the the build and please start a build log when you do start.

Hello Tobias,
Thank you very much for the kind and encouraging words. I think that I will be spending the most time on the planking. I will only have one chance to do it right, so I want to make sure that I take my time.
