Command Deck.- Mantua / Panart #709

Ok this will be a build log of the Panart Deluxe Command Deck sold by Mantua.

I saw this kit a few months ago and order it as I like the mini action scenes.

So here is kit overview so far.

Nice set of plans and instructions with photos to show steps to be completed.

This is basically a Quarter Deck station on a medium size ship not specific to period or navy.

Simple set of ribs and frames support nice decks and side walls to attach and lots of generic details to go with it. It does leave lots of room for upgrades and scratch builders to go further with it.

So here are photos:

Hallo @Kurt Konrath
we wish you all the BEST a HAPPY BIRTHDAY
Birthday-Cake

While working on multiple other tasks, I pulled out the crew figures I got for this project and made an attempt to paint them up. Some look OK, some look scarry like pirates, none as good as Doc K's figure painting.

I tied to make colors look like what might have been seen by crew of misfits on deck.

I didn't get a close up of the few officers figures, but you can laugh at my mess when squeezing out paint into my tray, overpressure of plugged tip can make a mess when it finally comes loose and lets go! (blue mess in tray) A lesson learned the hard way.

I plan to add a pin to one foot and secure to deck that way to keep them standing.

I think they turned out great, Kurt!

OK, I finally found the lantern for the Captain's cabin. From local hobby store (Hobby Lobby) I found some battery powered "Floating Tea Light" which look like small candles found in lanterns and under warming bins for food.

This pack $6 USD for 6 lights.

Since they were designed to float in water or such liquid, the on/off switch is a set of contact on bottom which when in liquid close the circuit and light up the unit.

I just decided to solder some scrap wire that I could twist together when needed to make it work.

Nice light yellow glow, that even flickered a bit when turned on. Perfect for lantern in the cabin at night.
