Drakar "OSEBERG" from Pavel Nikitin 1:25 [COMPLETED BUILD]

Have now painted the hull with linseed oil and umber pigment so that it looks like tar. It was pretty good. When it has dried properly, I will install deck planks. I will paint them with only linseed oil to get a contrast with the hull.20230408_110939.jpg
 
The Viking ship is complete. I'll leave it as it is now. There have been some difficulties to deal with with this kit and some details could be done better. But it is experiences that I take with me to the next project. However, the overall impression is that it was fun and interesting to build a real historical Viking ship. A beautiful job, a fascinating model, it makes a really good impression. Congrats. How did you paint it? What difficulty did you encounter? I'm doing the same model, maybe it might be useful for me to know. Thank you

The ship is painted with linseed oil and burnt umber pigment in two layers. Not full coverage, but the base shines through a little irregularly. The difficulties were first, as I have written about earlier in the log, that the planks were incorrectly constructed and lacked sufficient width so there was no overlap. Pavel sent new planks that were wider. But, watch out for this, the first planks have more overlap than the last ones. Before you begin, measure and distribute the total width and overlap across all the planks. This applies to planks 1 to 9. If I were to build from scratch again, I would not grind the angle of the frame in advance, but after the frame was in place.
 
Great work. I am almost finished planking. Not sure where I went wrong but my frame 8 requires significant modification.
