Got some bench time today and was able to finish up the ship’s wheel from the Syren mini-kit.
It’s a little bigger than the cast metal wheel in the kit. It’s an improvement over the current kit’s wheel (on the left), but I’m not sure mine came out any better-looking than the wheel from the 1990s’ version of the kit (middle).
Happy New Year, everyone!
Those wheels are way, way cooler than the kit's cast wheels!!
Happy New Year.
:D

Hey Namabiiru,

Your steering wheel looks great. Beautifully painted! :DThumbsupCould you do me a favour? Could you take a close-up photo of the steering wheel while standing? I'm also looking for a suitable steering wheel for the Athena...

Many thanks for your help.

Thank you, Günther!

Do you want me standing when I take the picture, Or the wheel? ROTF

Here is Mr Basswood inspecting the wheel

He’s contemplating the addition of some brass nails, but I’ve tried to convince him they’d be too small to be noticed.

Hey Namabiiru,

Yes, exactly. You've done a wonderful job. Feel free to post a still image of yourself with the steering wheel here... Really beautiful!! :D Thumbsup

Not showing off ROTF. You were wondering if nails would look out of scale. Now you can judge visually for yourself. If you like the look its easy: drill a hole, stick in thin brass wire, sand it smooth. But no one has ever said to me: oh, you put nails in the ship's wheel...now I like it...
Maybe they didn't say it, Paul, but they all thought it

Blessings.
Chuck
