More progress on the mizzen top deadeyes. I'm thinking I should've made the hooks out of brass for contrast. Oh well, not enough of a motive for a re-do. only 16 more to go! Then back to the bowsprit-jibboom rigging.

Still picking away at the deadeyes on the tops. Slow going, making all the little hooks, stropping the deadeyes and tying them off. My eyes can only take so much before I have to re-focus for distance and my eyes stop watering! Each one takes a lot of time. Can't exactly knock them out.

Thanks for the eye candy! The detailing is fantastic! Even at the expense of your poor eyeballs! Know that I have felt your pain. Making those hooks by hand is no laughing matter.

Peter, The special pliers freehand system for making hooks and eyebolts has never worked for me. If you’re using it and find it tiring, try two nails with their heads clipped off in a block of wood clamped securely in a vise.

My system for making any and all small fittings is to avoid moving parts.

Finally completed the tops deadeye assemblies. Also assembled the Jackstay for the Spencer sail on the Main, 10 little brass eye bolts, of which 5 are hand formed with pliers.

Prepping the hearts for the bowsprit-whisker boom chains. I need ten like this. Took forever. TEENY-TINY FUSSY!
Now that I'm past the learning curve I hope the rest will come together a lot faster. Need 20 in all. 10 without the lashing.
Almost too small to photograph well with my phone. the little dowel with the beading needle is my CA applicator

I'm at a juncture where the progress here, while steady, is, well... BORING with 20 of these hearts (which at this scale look more like little brass knuckles) to fit out, before they can begin to be put to use. The progress is slow and tediously repetitive...iv...iv...
There won't be much of interest to look at until I finally get some attached to the chains and the bowsprit, jibboom and whisker boom assemblies. I can only squint at these little suckers while tying on WEENY threads for just so long before my eyeballs are awash and fixed on double vision. I'm all the way up to five.
So (with my rapidly dwindling fanbase) I'm commanding the troops to "FALL OUT!" before they've All gone AWOL.
I'll be back in the saddle when I have something of interest to show for it.
