Started installing the beams on the next deck up, its a very simple way of doing it,
without all the carlings and ledges,



I started off by attaching the beams in front and behind the main and mizzen masts,
the masts are not yet glued in place,


all the beams in place,


Captains bed glued in place, there is a spare set of Plain Sheets in the locker in case
Uwe decides to take a voyage on her, ,

and a close up view, I was lucky installing them as they will not need to be sanded,
the planks run over them nice and smoothly, see next pic,

This is a very stylized model, I have already been asked by one member why the
planking on the port side did not go all the way to the bow and the stern, when
I first started to build this model I wanted to show the frames and the interior,
but in a simplified way, the part planking on the starboard side hides the wires
for the lighting system, any questions just ask,

with the beams in place the next step was the making and attaching of the different gratings and ladder ways,
after cutting the grating to size I glue it with a dab of PVA to a piece of paperand then attach the coamings around it,

G'day Pat, yes the capstan they give in the kit is the wrong type, so I made two of my own, they are easy to
make with a piece of Dowell and some scrap wood,

Before I could plank the next deck, i had to install the bulkhead between the captains
cabin and the rest of the gun deck,





I had to take out one of the deck beams so I could get in and make a template for
the bulkhead



I had some really nice scrap walnut plywood, so I cut it into lengths for planks to
cover both sides of the bulkhead,




I then cut the planks to size on my cutter,


Thiis is the cardboard template of the bulkhead, I glued the walnut planks onto this,
on both sides,




I had worked out where I wanted the door to go and left that part unplanked,

Just found your great log on the Fredrich Wilhelm Zu Pferde, You sure have shown your shipmates just what a very skilled person you are. You have turned a not so good kit into a wonderful work of art. With so many of your very fine touches along with all of that very fine detail that I love to see very much, Well Done, ENJOY.

First plank of the quarter deck,


Quarter deck planked, and now attaching the base for the rails to be attached too,

Next I had to attach the hancing pieces, so I drilled holes through the piece and CA glued a piece of brass rod
in it, after deciding the position it was to be fixed in,

Next up was the frame extensions that would hold the top rails, lots of tiny little suckers to cut and fit, first six
in place,


I set up my Proxxon saw with a fine blade and after cutting stips to 4.5mm x 4.5mm I then set a little jig just using
the square on the table and the fence to cut them all 5mm in length, for the after extensions I had to put a little
bit of an angle on them due to the sheer of the rails,

Nice progress again. Trinidad almost finished then it will be a building combination with the wilhelm and the felipe. You keep building this one so i have a good guideline. Drawings are not always so clear for me.
